"How can that possibly work?" Thalassa rejected the idea without giving it much thought. She had planned on not sharing her bed with Lysander tonight.
The events of last night were still vivid in her mind. Lysander's energy seemed boundless, and she had no guarantee that he would leave her alone tonight.
The only way to ensure her safety was to keep her distance from him.
As she finished speaking, Lysander strolled in. He'd just taken a shower in his study and his hair was still wet and dripping. He was wearing a dark gray silk pajama.
He stood tall and handsome; his body was still steaming from the shower and his stunning good looks were undeniable.
The air seemed to churn with his intrusion.
Thalassa's breath slowed instinctively.
Lysander always had a commanding presence. He could effortlessly take control of the room the moment he appeared.
His gaze met hers.
Thalassa lowered her head without giving it much thought; she was feeling guilty for some reason. He didn’t hear their conversation, did he? She thought.
"It's okay, Mommy," Elowen said, planning out their sleeping arrangements with her small hands. "You can sleep in the middle, Sophia and I will sleep here, you can hold us. Dorian and Atticus can sleep on your other side next to you. Dad can just sleep at the foot of the bed."
With that, she burrowed into Thalassa's arms, worried that her spot would be taken.
Thalassa was taken aback. She looked at the foot of the bed, then back at Lysander.
His handsome face was devoid of emotion.
Thalassa couldn't help but laugh. She quickly corrected Elowen, "That's not going to work. This is your father's bed. How can he sleep at the foot of the bed? I'll go downstairs and sleep with you guys. Your bed might not be as big as this one, but we can squeeze."
And Lysander slept at the foot of the bed. His tall frame didn't fit in the space the kids had left him, so he bent his knees to make himself smaller.
Thalassa looked at his awkward sleeping position and worried he would be upset about them taking over his bed.
But soon, she forgot all about it as she cooed the pumpkins to sleep. Having them by her side, smelling their milky scent, Thalassa felt relaxed. She fell asleep within minutes.
In the middle of the night, the moon hung high in the sky, casting a soft glow through the window. The moonlight illuminated the room and outlined the haphazard sleeping arrangements on the bed.
Lysander got up and moved the four kids to the foot of the bed. He then laid down next to Thalassa and pulled her into his arms.
Thalassa felt someone moving her as she was stirring in her sleep. She opened her eyes, aware of the man's strong presence next to her, and smelled his sandalwood scent.
She instantly became alert and struggled a little when she realized the man was Lysander, "Let me go, I'm tired. Not tonight..."
