She tried to leave, but Bruce was hell-bent on stopping her.
In a fit of emotion, he said, "This is yours, take the money and I'll consider you and your mom strangers from now on. It'll make me feel better. If you don't accept, I'll take it you're still hoping for me to be part of your family."
His words made Thalassa pause, her eyes thoughtful. He shoved the card into her hand and said, "Keep this safe, will ya? Don't worry, I'll act as if I don't know you when I see you in the future."
With that, he turned around and headed for the ward.
Holding the card felt like holding a hot potato for Thalassa. She couldn't throw it away, but she didn't want to accept it either.
As she watched Bruce walk into the ward, she noticed his slightly hunched back.
Thinking about the fatherly love she had missed for twenty-seven years, Thalassa felt her nose prickled with a sour feeling.
She squeezed the card tightly, eventually tucking it into her pocket.
Thalassa arrived at the hospital with Isabella and her mother. Just then a taxi pulled up.
She put all of Isabella's luggage into the trunk and said, "I heard you're heading back to Hollowbrook. Guess I won't be seeing you off then."
Isabella gave the taxi a disdainful look and retorted sarcastically, "I heard your company gave you a BMW. Looks like Evelyn was just blowing hot air. But it doesn't matter if you don't have one. No need to act like you're rich when you're not. Nobody's gonna laugh at you."
Every word of Isabella's was like a barbed arrow.
Hearing this, Thalassa was pissed off. She had already done a lot by helping Isabella get discharged and even hailing a taxi for her, but Isabella was ungrateful and even mocking.
With people like this, a lesson was in order.
Thalassa sneered and said, "Even if I had a BMW, it's for people who deserve it. Some people have not just a dirty mouth, but a dirty ass too. I don't want my car to be dirtied."
She was so angry and embarrassed that she raised her hand to slap Thalassa.
The wind her hand raised blew onto Thalassa's face, sharp as a knife.
Thalassa's pupils dilated, and she was ready to block her hand.
"Isabella, what are you doing!" A sharp and stern male voice echoed in the air.
Isabella paused.
Just then, someone rushed over like lightning, grabbed Isabella's hand and pushed her forward.
Stumbling backwards, Isabella fell to the ground due to her injured leg.
