The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 748

The signal bars on my phone barely made it past two. Typical small-town vibes, I thought with a wry smile.

This place felt like a different world compared to the city—no grand hotels, just a handful of quaint inns.

We figured there'd be a lot of tourists, and sure enough, when we walked up to the front desk, the clerk glanced up. "Only got one queen room left," he said.

Allison raised an eyebrow. "Just one? We're two people."

The clerk, a young guy with a cigarette hanging from his lips, shrugged. "You two a couple, right? Why split up? Take it or leave it; others are waiting."

Lucian didn't hesitate. "We'll take it."

The clerk added, "Wi-Fi's a bit iffy, so cash is best. Cards or digital payments might get delayed."

Lucian's wallet was light on cash.

Allison chuckled at his stunned expression. Here was a man whose cards could buy anything, stumped by a simple cash transaction.

Even though it was a tourist spot, the inn's rates were reasonable—nothing fancy.

The clerk eyed Lucian. "So, got the cash or not? If not, I'll give it to the next person."

Allison pulled out her wallet. "We'll stay for three nights."

She handed over her ID and the cash as Lucian shouldered their luggage and headed upstairs.

"Not tired," he murmured. "Right now, I only want..."

"What do you want?" she teased.

"I only want... you."

He drew the curtains closed, lifted her in his arms as if she weighed nothing, and they fell onto the bed together. Allison was dressed in a black hoodie and jeans that hugged her long legs.

His kisses landed softly on her face as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The stubble on his chin brushed against her skin, a sensation both new and slightly ticklish. She laughed. "Hey, you've got stubble."

Lucian held her hand, touching his chin, and Allison felt the slight prickle against her palm. "You must be tired," she said softly, "otherwise you would have taken care of that stubble."
