She had been with Joseph for over six months now, during this time he had been attentive to her every need, save for one thing: marriage.
He had chosen to get engaged to Stella.
Apart from her background, what else could possibly make her less deserving of Joseph?
Stella jilting Joseph was undoubtedly a slap in the face to the Palmer family, but what was more surprising was the fact that Joseph was still relentlessly looking for Stella. Was he planning to find her and continue with their wedding?
...
Joseph came back.
Natalie wanted to ask about Stella's whereabouts.
"Stop meddling in her business." Joseph pressed his forehead.
As expected, the bodyguard, Thomas Martinez, Stella had messed with was a madman.
Now that she had fallen into the hands of Thomas, even the Palmer family would have a hard time saving her.
He'd warned her before, but Stella was just too smitten with Thomas.
But Natalie misinterpreted his reaction.
Was he worried that she would harm Stella? Or was he trying to keep her from knowing too much so as not to interfere with his engagement to Stella?
Either scenario was hard to swallow.

Brittany left the restaurant and drove home.
The house was empty, which Brittany found rather peaceful.
She took a hot shower, changed into casual clothes, and made a pot of rib stew.
While the stew was simmering, Brittany dealt with some work matters and phoned Kari to remind her to be careful.
"I know. Nathan has been with me lately; I will be careful."
Brittany wanted to give her more advice, but there was a knock on the door.
"Do you have guests?" Kari heard the knock and asked Brittany.
"We'll talk another day."
Brittany hung up the phone, walked to the door, and saw a man standing outside through the peephole.
She frowned and opened the door. "What are you doing here?"
Emily received a phone call. A raspy voice came from the other end.
Her face changed instantly, and she immediately stood up. "Okay. I'll be right there."
Her son had an accident on the East City Highway; she needed to go there immediately.
She hung up the phone, gathered her things in a panic, and quickly left the ward.
After Emily left, Joie entered the ward.
Daniel was still unconscious.
His head was wrapped in gauze, and his eyes were tightly closed. His lips were slightly dry and reddened. He looked like an injured animal, pitiful and helpless.
Joie never liked Daniel from the start, and now she despised him even more. She walked to the bedside, picked up a pillow, and slowly approached Daniel.
Holding the pillow, Joie pressed it down hard on Daniel.
The large ward was silent. Her hand became extremely veined as she exuded a fierce determination while gripping the pillow with all her might.
Joie was ruthless. She held the pillow down firmly with no remorse. In a few minutes, Daniel would be no more.
