Brittany clenched her fists, and her eyes welled up with tears.
That wasn’t some random brawl, it was premeditated!
The middle-aged couple planned to drop a check and leave. However, a figure stood not far away.
“Mr. Salter?”
The couple backed away in fright.
Did Isaac and Brittany not break up? Didn't they even abandon their child?
What was going on?
Isaac slowly approached, his gaze falling on the couple, looking at them like they were a pile of mud.
Seeing him coming, Daniel called out, "Dad."
Isaac motioned for him to come over. Daniel walked over and said, “Sorry.”
He knew he shouldn’t have been fighting.
Isaac crouched down, "You did well."
Daniel was stunned, then his eyes lit up.
He thought, “Dad hates fighting, doesn't he? Then why did he praise him?”
“Isaac, don’t teach my son bad habits!” Brittany warned. He was actually praising their son for fighting!
Isaac stood up and asked, "Do you want him to just stand by while his mother is humiliated?"
Brittany was left speechless.
“Mr. Salter, we’re sorry for what happened today. We were wrong. I’ll ask my son to apologize to you.”
The man, who was previously arrogant, pulled the fat boy over and said to him, “Say sorry!”
The boy scowled and muttered an apology.
Daniel stood there, not saying a word.
Isaac gave him a cold glance, and the man slapped his own son, "Louder!"
The boy started to cry, "I'm sorry!"
A head injury was no small matter.
Daniel shook his head weakly, "No need; the teacher already took me. I'm just a bit tired."
Brittany looked at her son's pale face, her heart aching. She leaned down to kiss him, "Then you get some sleep."
Daniel slept heavily in Isaac's arms, and the two adults didn't say a word the whole way.
Back at Brittany's house, Isaac put Daniel back in his room, then got out and looked at Brittany, "Why didn’t you tell me when Daniel was in trouble?"
Brittany stood in the living room and asked, "Would it have come to this if it wasn't for you?"
If he hadn't gone through with the marriage procedures without her knowledge, why would she need to file for divorce? Why make everyone know about it?
Isaac pondered for a while, "I can handle the Dustin Group issue."
"If you're trying to use the Dustin Group to threaten me or to make me stay, then I'd rather let the company go bankrupt."
Brittany interrupted him, walked to the door, opened it, and said, "Please leave."
Isaac looked rather awful, pondered for a while, then turned around and left.
