Many guests were anticipating some drama. After all, who didn't know that Isaac was a ruthless, grudge-holding guy?
Brittany once almost got him kicked out of the Salter family. Seeing each other again might stir up a storm.
Kari instinctively wanted to intervene. But Brittany gently held her hand and said, "It's fine."
Since she was back in Imperial City, bumping into him was inevitable.
She looked up at the grand staircase on the second floor.
Isaac, whom she hadn't seen in five years, seemed particularly favored by time, showing no signs of aging. His gaze was even more profound.
Their eyes met, as if they were instantly transported back to five years ago.
But they both knew the good times of five years ago were over.
Nathan didn't expect Brittany to be alive!
He hardly dared to think about how Brittany had been doing those past five years, let alone what Mr. Salter's reaction would be upon seeing her.
Isaac stared straight at Brittany.
Brittany gave a slight smile as a way of greeting, then arranged to discuss business with a few executives later.
"Kari, let's go."
There was no need to stay at that party any longer.
"Bri, about Mr. Salter..." Kari was worried about Isaac's potential actions.
"It's okay; let's go." Brittany and Kari left the party.
Kari wanted to escort her but was called away by a phone call.
Brittany had taken a taxi to get there. She was without a car then. So, she had to call a taxi.
Behind her was the lively party, but in front of her was the deserted parking lot.
The sound of hurried footsteps approached. Brittany seemed to sense something. The next second, a pair of strong hands grasped her wrist and pulled her into his arms, a wave of warmth engulfing her!
"You're still alive!"
Isaac, his eyes red and full of hatred, demanded, "Why didn't you come back?"
Isaac's face darkened, his gaze fixed on her, "When did you come back?"
She was already back, and he was completely unaware.
"Mr. Salter, when I came back is none of your business." Brittany didn't want to waste any more time with him. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Isaac saw her intentions and disregarding his own pain, grabbed her hand and forcefully pinned her against the wall.
His breath was hot and heavy.
"Answer me."
Brittany couldn't resist him. She gritted her teeth, "I just got back."
Isaac's breathing became heavier, "Where have you been all these years?"
She hadn't died. For five years, she had been alive and well, even openly appearing before him.
Brittany laughed and asked, "Mr. Salter, do you need me to remind you where I've been these past five years?"
