Brittany yanked her hand away, "Mr. Salter, it's pretty late. You should head home."
She really didn't want to be alone with Isaac, so she turned on her heel and started to leave.
Isaac paid the bill, gave the waiter his address, and then followed her out.
Even though Brittany was pregnant, she walked pretty fast. Isaac had to practically jog to keep up with her. When he finally caught up, he grabbed her hand and said, "Slow down."
"Don't touch me!"
Brittany instinctively pulled her hand back. Her annoyance made Isaac feel uneasy.
He awkwardly pulled his hand back.
Brittany realized her reaction was a bit too strong. She pressed her lips together, then turned to get into the car.
Isaac knew she was resisting him. He took a deep breath to calm himself, then got into the car.
Brittany sat in the back seat. Maybe she was tired, she closed her eyes.
Isaac drove the car at a leisurely pace. The falling snowflakes disappeared the moment they hit the tar road.
...
At Radiant Residences.
Joie watched Isaac fussing over Brittany and couldn't help going to Grace Salter.
"Granny, I was thinking about moving in."
Grace didn't expect Joie to also want to move in. She frowned, "Why?"
"Living alone is kind of a drag." Joie tried to persuade Grace, "Now that Isaac and Bri are living here, I want to bond with Bri."
She continued, "Gran, you know, I'm an orphan. I've been on my own since I was a kid..."
Hearing this, Grace softened. Joie had a tough childhood, which made her feel sympathetic.
"Ms. Joie moving in might be a good thing."
Emily poured Grace a glass of water, "Firstly, Mrs. Salter is pregnant. There might be things she's not comfortable telling us, but she could talk to Ms. Joie."
Just as she stepped out the front door, she saw Brittany getting out of the car. Isaac was right behind her, every look filled with concern for her.
"Bro Isaac, Bri, you're back."
Joie smiled. A hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.
Brittany didn't even glance at her, walking straight into Radiant Residences.
"Why are you here?"
Isaac frowned. He'd told her before not to come over if there was no reason.
Joie bit her lip gently, "Bro Isaac, I told Grace that I wanted to stay here for a while. That way, I can keep Grace company and build a better relationship with Bri."
"She agreed?" Isaac asked.
"Mhm."
Joie noticed him wearing only a thin white shirt, worry crept in, "Bro Isaac, aren't you cold?"
