The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 427

The secretary had assumed Brittany would be on board as usual, since she and her husband had always been thick as thieves.

But on that day, Brittany didn't even glance at the secretary. She instead headed straight for her desk and casually rifled through contracts.

An idea popped into the secretary's head, and she carefully asked, "Ms. Dustin, did you and Mr. Salter have a spat?"

“That couldn't be, could it?

Mr. Salter had been lunching and napping with Ms. Dustin at noon. That didn't look like a post-fight scene!” she thought.

Brittany was always pretty reserved and didn't air her dirty laundry in public. "No," she replied.

She paused, "Put the stuff down. You can leave now."

As the secretary left the office with a puzzled look on her face, she bumped into Tina.

"What's the deal?"

Tina saw the secretary's worried face and thought something had gone down.

"Tina, Ms. Dustin seems to be in a snit. Be careful when you go in."

Tina frowned, "Ms. Dustin's not one to mix business with personal."

Long familiar with Brittany, she knew she wouldn't take out her mood swings on her subordinates.

"I guess, she might have had a row with Mr. Salter."

The more the secretary thought about it, the odder it seemed. "They're usually as sweet as pie, but today Ms. Dustin was acting cold."

Something was definitely up.

Tina clasped her head and said, "Don't sweat it. Just get on with your work. I'm going in."

Tina pushed open the office door and saw Brittany engrossed in her work.

"Ms. Dustin."

Brittany looked up and said, "Sit."

Brittany listened to Tina's words, silently categorizing Isaac's wrongdoings in her heart.

Initially, he likely hid his true identity because he had no intention of including her in his life after their sham marriage. That was comprehensible.

After their union, Isaac still kept his identity a secret. That was probably because the Salter family was unstable, so he didn't want the Salters to know about their wedding. He acted that way mainly to protect her from being targeted by the Salters.

That could be chalked up to being forced by circumstances.

He might not have known about the blind date with Shona in advance. He hid the truth about that to protect their relationship.

But, him taking Joie out of the country and even hiding Joie's calls—that was deliberate concealment.

Brittany remained silent.

Tina didn't feel it was her place to say more. Before leaving, she said in a serious tone, "Ms. Dustin, every couple has their own way of dealing with things. If you can't stomach being deceived, it's best to make a decision sooner rather than later."

After Tina left, Brittany started a new round of work.

After work, Hannah was already waiting outside the door.
