The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 387

She just didn't want to ask. She wanted to see for herself if Isaac had really been pulling the wool over her eyes.

Brittany wasn't a suspicious person by nature, but too many fishy things had been happening lately - surprise sweets, dropped phone calls... Although Isaac's explanations seemed bulletproof, something just didn't sit right with her.

She and Isaac had been hitched for almost a year now, and their baby was already six months old. But everything just felt too surreal.

To Brittany, Isaac was like a foggy enigma. Beyond his name, his granny, and a few surface-level details of his past, she knew next to nothing about him.

Maybe it was because of the pregnancy, and her emotions were on overdrive. Even a casual comment from Warren could send her spiraling into wild conspiracy theories!

"Kari, you head on home first. I can handle things on my own."

Despite Kari's concerns, Brittany assured her repeatedly that she was doing just peachy. Only then did she leave.

After waiting for about two hours, it was lunch break time.

Many office workers came out one after another, dressed in their suits. But even after the last wave of office workers had left, Brittany still didn't spot Isaac.

She took out her phone and dialed Isaac's number for no good reason, but there was no answer on the other end.

...

In the CEO's office.

Isaac just wrapped up a video conference. He got up to catch his breath by the window, planning to have Nathan Jarvis bring in some lunch.

However, he spotted Brittany's car parked below.

What was she doing here?

Isaac instinctively got up and took a few steps forward but then turned back and asked, "Did Fiona find anything?"

"Nothing."

With an expressionless face, Isaac said, "I'm off to lunch."

...

A man came out of the building.

Dressed in a black coat, he looked dashing and debonair. Behind him was a middle-aged man. The two were engaged in conversation, with him as aloof as ever.

In an instant, Brittany felt all her worries melt away.

How could she ever suspect Isaac was lying to her? That's just ludicrous!

Isaac took Brittany out for lunch, then dropped her off at her apartment before heading off.

Downstairs, Nathan had been waiting for quite a while.

"Mr. Salter, we just received word that Warren met with Ms. Dustin." Nathan said in a low voice, "He made some vague comments."

Isaac had picked up on Brittany's odd behavior.

She wasn't missing him but she had been stirred up by someone. She wanted to see for herself if he was lying.

"We can now go public with Warren's shady dealings." Isaac got into the car and loosened his tie, "Have Fiona come up with an excuse to brush it off and keep it on the down-low."

"Understood."

The black vehicle sped off, leaving only exhaust fumes behind.

That evening, news of Warren being brought in by the police for alleged bribery was out in the open.

Upon seeing the news, Brittany instinctively thought of Warren's words and felt a touch of unease.
