The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 381

Five in the afternoon.

Brittany got the news that William had woken up.

The word was that he was not faking optimism anymore and hadn’t said a word since he woke up.

Despite Mrs. Dillion's endless chatter, he hadn't responded.

Brittany rushed to the hospital but ran into a young woman in the hallway.

She was all dolled up, icy-cold, and seemed a bit tired, but she couldn't hide her high-class vibe.

Timothy saw Brittany. His face turned sour, "What brings you here?"

"I heard William was awake. I wanted to see him." Brittany's words were a tad guarded.

With a stern face, Timothy said, "He hasn't said a word since he woke up. You go in and try to talk some sense into him."

His parents had tried their best but to no avail.

Brittany was their only hope now.

Brittany suited up in visitors' garb and followed the nurse into the room. It was as quiet as a graveyard.

William's face was ghostly pale.

The room had a faint smell of blood, probably from a recent medication change.

"Miss, you've got half an hour," the nurse reminded.

"I know," Brittany answered.

Brittany got to the bedside and poured William a glass of water, "William, you feeling any better?"

Not a peep from William.

He looked like he'd lost a lot of weight; his gentleness was gone.

It was as if he had just realized his legs were never gonna be the same; he seemed to have fallen into a pit of despair.

When William didn't take the water, Brittany put the glass down.

She felt guilty and insecure, but more than that, there was indescribable emotion.

"William, I know about everything that happened before."

"Was it my mom who told you and asked you to marry me?" William's voice was hoarse, cutting Brittany off.

Brittany was taken aback.

Brittany was thin but stubborn.

The weather was hot during the orientation, and many students were uncomfortable.

Brittany almost fainted multiple times but didn't quit. She hung in there till the end and even lost a lot of weight.

Even so, she performed excellently and received the best team member award in her grade.

During the award ceremony, William handed her the award.

She thanked the assistant with a smile. Her eyes slightly curved, with full of joy.

At that moment, William's heartbeat quickened.

He knew Brittany was beautiful, but he didn't realize her spirit was like a resilient rose.

Probably from then on, he started to have a crush on her, which grew stronger over time, turning to love, then an obsession that he couldn't shake off.

Sadly, she seemed to have never paused for him.

Even now, all she feels for him is guilt, no love.

"If you truly wish me well, then please don't visit before I'm discharged."
