Brittany mistakenly thought he was mad because of her having some BBQ, and finally, she explained.
Turned out it was that kid.
The hostility in Isaac's eyes lessened a bit, "You didn't tell me it was a boy."
"Just a twenty-year-old kid." Seeing the coldness on his face, Brittany seemed to understand something. She finished her water and turned to Isaac, "Are you jealous?"
Isaac, seeing his thoughts exposed, awkwardly took a sip of water, "No."
Brittany took his hand, "I'm a married woman. Are you really bothered by a kid?"
Isaac lowered his gaze, meeting Brittany's sparkling eyes. She probably didn't realize how attractive she was right now.
With William appreciating Brittany before and now some unnamed kid bothering her, how could he not be jealous?
Brittany knew he was a bit of a closed book, gently cupping his chin, "If you don't like it, I'll cut back on seeing him."
Isaac took hold of the back of her head, landed a kiss, followed by a suggestive nip at her earlobe, "I won't interfere normal interactions."
Brittany chuckled, "Let's go home."
At the words "go home,” Isaac felt inexplicably softened, "Okay."
Brittany knew his moods well; they were in it for the long haul, and she couldn't let him feel insecure.
Noel invited her out a few times, but she declined.
Thankfully, he was young and broad-minded. After being turned down a few times, he stopped bothering. His boss mentioned he was talented, already closing a few deals, and busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
A new product was about to launch, and Isaac needed to go on a business trip for a week.
Before he left, there was a snowfall in Imperial City. Brittany, dressed in comfy clothes, curled up on the couch, watching Isaac bustling around.
He was packing, tidying the house, and preparing a week's worth of food for her, the pregnant woman.
Brittany held a hot cocoa, sipping slowly, feeling very comfortable, "Zakky, it's just a week. I should be fine on my own."
She wasn't a child; she had lived alone for many years.
Isaac fell silent.
He reached out, gently wrapping his arms around her waist, and said, "It's freezing outside; you should listen to me."
"I don't want to."
Brittany, smelling his scent, felt at ease.
Isaac lightly rubbed his brow, "Then I'll call Derek Bishop over. He can take you home later, okay?"
Brittany was overjoyed, and she couldn't help but peck him on the cheek, "Darling, you spoil me too much!"
Holding her, feeling her soft body, a familiar urge surged from his feet, hitting him like a ton of bricks.
After a moment, he slowly pushed her away, helped her put on a thick down jacket, scarf, earmuffs, and gloves, bundled her up real tight, then hand in hand, they went downstairs.
Derek was waiting downstairs, seeing Brittany all bundled up. He couldn't help but laugh.
"What's so funny?" Brittany glared at Derek, "Never seen a pregnant woman before?"
