"It's getting late, and you should head home and get some rest. Prepare yourself for the interview tomorrow."
Brittany made a move to leave.
"I don't have a place to stay."
Noel was hesitant. He had turned in all his assets and had been living off of the money he made from selling his jacket for the past few days.
Brittany stopped in her tracks and pulled out a wad of cash from her bag. "Here, take this."
Noel shook his head. "No, Brittany, you've done enough for me already. I don't want your money."
He wasn't all about the dough.
"Think of it as a loan." Brittany had been through tough times herself; she understood how Noel was feeling. Without hesitating, she shoved the money into his hands and said, "Pay me back when you can."
Before Noel could reply, Brittany was already in her car, starting the engine and driving away.
Noel looked at the money in his hands and scratched his head awkwardly.
He was usually the one splashing the cash around; this was the first time anyone had given him money!
Noel split the money into two. He used one half to rent a place and the other half to buy daily necessities. The leftover money was used to buy a suit from the mall.
The Dillion family were good to him, and he never lacked anything.
Indeed, he had been fending for himself from a young age. These challenges didn't phase him.
Bright and early the next day, Noel headed for his job interview.
He aced the preliminary and final interviews and landed the job!
When he got the job, he immediately texted Brittany, "Brittany, thank you for the referral. I got the job!"
Even through the screen, Brittany could feel his joy, and she smiled softly.
She replied, "Do your best."
Without missing a beat, Noel texted back, "Brittany, once I get my paycheck, I'll treat you to a feast!"
Isaac wasn't going to back down so easily. He wrapped his arms around her waist and started to kiss her until they were both breathless.
Brittany's eyes glistened as she lightly pushed against his chest, "Don't do that."
Isaac bit her lip, not too hard, "Fine, next time."
Knowing he wouldn't cross a line, Brittany teased him by clutching onto his shirt, "Zakky, are you sure you don't want to?"
Isaac's forehead furrowed, instantly spotting Brittany's attempt to provoke him.
He held onto her small hand tightly, his eyes filled with danger, "You seem pretty energetic?"
He always considered her tough work routine, but she was pushing it.
Brittany sensed the danger and tried to escape, but it was too late.
His body leaned forward, his hot breath like a tidal wave swept over her from all directions. In an instant, it completely drowned what little rationality Brittany had left.
