Isaac could tell Brittany was really tired, but she still insisted she didn't want to sleep.
Feeling somewhat helpless, he lifted her up and said, "Didn't you say you didn't want to sleep?"
Brittany clung to his neck, "I was just scared you'd get mad, and you'd go cold on me. I did it on purpose."
Isaac put her down, turning to get into bed, "Don't worry, I'll go with you to the hospital tomorrow morning."
"Alright."
He wasn't mad, Brittany let out a sigh of relief, and in no time, she fell asleep.
Isaac got in touch with Nathan, successfully squashed the news, found out it was Mr. Leo pulling the strings, he applied some pressure, and in three days, Mr. Leo backed down.
...
Hospital.
After checking in, Brittany sat waiting, Isaac didn’t wear his usual suit, he was wearing a linen lounge suit, looking dapper.
They both stood out, attracting quite a few glances.
They were here for a Down syndrome screening, it was Brittany's first time being a mommy, so she was pretty on edge, "Zakky, there won't be any issues with the baby, right?"
"Everything will be fine, you've been recovering really well, the checkup will be over before you know it."
Isaac stroked her body, "There's a BBQ place you really like around here, we can go grab a bite after this."
For a while now, Brittany hadn't been eating out in order to take care of her health.
Hearing him say that, her eyes lit up, not caring about the people around, she pecked him on the cheek, "Zakky, you're the best."
Isaac cracked a small smile.
After nearly half an hour in line, Brittany got into the consulting room, Isaac went with her.
Seeing Brittany all tense, the doctor comforted her with a smile, "Is this your first pregnancy?"
"Don't be nervous, the checkup will be over in no time." The doctor was really friendly, Brittany gradually relaxed.
The results would take about half an hour, Isaac helped her wipe off the gel, straightened out her skirt, and asked the doctor about precautions.
The doctor seldom saw such a handsome man who was also so caring, so he spent a few extra minutes chatting.
Before leaving the room, the doctor told Brittany, "Your husband's really thoughtful, you should cherish him."
Brittany cracked a smile, "I know."
"Yes." The sandwich suddenly didn't taste so good to Brittany.
Joie looked her up and down, "You're now the lady of the Dustin family, why aren't you in a private hospital?"
Grace had already arranged to transfer her to a private hospital for a good rest in a few days.
Apparently, the daily room charge in a private hospital was a few thousand dollars.
"Public hospitals are fine too." Brittany didn't feel particularly close to Joie, her tone was a bit frosty.
She even hoped Isaac would get back soon, so she wouldn't have to continue this conversation with Joie.
Joie noticed her resistance, but didn't mind.
So what if she was Mr. Salter's wife? She still hadn't gotten anything.
Maybe Brittany's baby would need her to look after in the future.
She kept talking, not caring whether Brittany was listening or not.
Isaac came back with the water, just in time to get a call from Nathan, "Mr. Salter, Ms. Joie is missing—"
