The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 262

Brittany hung up the call, filled Isaac in on the situation, and they both dashed to the police station.

Robert was in the interrogation room, pulling out his evidence.

At this point, Robert had completely given up resistance. He spilled the beans, leading to Gianna being taken away by the police. She was cursing like a sailor, looking like she wanted to kill Robert on the spot.

Brittany watched this once-loving couple now hurting each other, and found it bitterly ironic.

Through the glass, Robert caught sight of Brittany, a flicker of guilt crossing his eyes.

Brittany walked over and took a seat across from him.

"Why did you do this?"

"I'm sorry for what I did to Julie, and I'm sorry for what I did to you," Robert confessed, "I made a will. I’m leaving the Dustin family to you."

The Dustin family was now down and out, and Brittany couldn't care less about it.

"I don't want it."

"Brittany, your mother also put a lot into the Dustin family," Robert knew Brittany had a bone to pick with him, and she wouldn't take it easily.

He stood up, and then his legs gave out.

He suddenly knelt before Brittany, "I owe you and your mother an apology. The Dustin family is the result of a lifetime of hard work from your mother and me, and I hope you can bring it back from the brink."

Brittany was taken aback; she hadn't expected Robert to kneel before her, so she scoffed.

"Do you still want to use me, even now?"

Use her to work her butt off for the Dustin family!

Robert shook his head and said, "No, I genuinely want to make amends."

Brittany had heard this song and dance before. She stood up, ready to leave.

"Brittany."

Robert stopped her and asked, "Did you ever look at the pearl earrings in your mother's belongings?"

Brittany hadn't expected Robert to know about her mother's belongings, so she immediately became wary.

"What are you trying to do?"

"Those pearl earrings, they're connected to your mother's past. You can't blab about it to just anyone."

"Isn't she the daughter of the Russell family?"

Everyone in Imperial City knew Julie was the pride and joy of the Russell family.

She should've had a bright future, but because of Robert, she brought grief to the Russell family, and they left Imperial City for L City over twenty years ago.

"Ms. Dustin, this is Mr. Dustin's will. Please have a look."

Brittany didn't want to deal with anything related to Robert, but then the lawyer handed her a photo.

It was an old group photo. In it, Robert was carrying a little girl on his back, and sitting next to them was Julie.

"Ms. Dustin, Mr. Dustin made a lot of mistakes, but he truly felt remorse before he died."

In Brittany's memory, Robert never gave her any love.

But in this picture, the love in his eyes was real.

Brittany took the documents and opened them to find that all of Robert's shares, properties, and shops were left to her. There was also a letter.

Brittany could guess what the letter said, some apologies, most likely.

Without even reading it, she tore the letter into pieces and threw it in the trash, then she signed the document.

"Please handle the properties for me, donate all proceeds, and I'll take over the Dustin family."

The Dustin family was not only Robert's but also her mother's.

She couldn't let her mother's efforts go to waste.
