The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 248

After leaving the police station, Brittany had planned to head straight home.

However, she had barely stepped out the door when a black car blocked her path.

Feeling a strong hostility, Brittany instinctively took a step back. She looked up as the car door opened.

Out of the back seat emerged a face that had been plastered all over the media. The man was handsome, no spring chicken, but clearly well-preserved.

His eyes radiated a potent threat, years of experience lending him an air of authority.

This man was the head of the city hospital—Warren.

"Ms. Dustin, can we talk?"

Warren's scrutinizing gaze fell on Brittany's face, exuding a sort of arrogance as if he was above the world.

Brittany looked at Warren's face, guessing why he had come, "Sure."

"Please get in the car."

Warren was here because he had received a lawyer's letter. Brittany had not only sued Robert but also the city hospital, alleging that the hospital had neglected its duty, indirectly causing a death.

Before this matter could be made public, Warren rushed to find Brittany, hoping to settle it privately.

The police station wasn't the best place for a chat, so Brittany got into the car.

This was the first time Warren had met Brittany.

Imperial City was a bustling place, and the Dustin family had fallen from grace and hence never appeared in his social circles.

If not for the news about Donna Dustin from the Dustin family and the digging up of their background, he might not have even noticed Brittany's existence.

Seeing Brittany willing to talk, Warren breathed a sigh of relief.

He gestured for the driver to start the car.

Warren took Brittany to a restaurant, and they walked into a private room one after the other. The staff's gaze shifted when they saw Brittany. As if Brittany was someone of great importance.

Brittany didn't care how others saw her; she looked up and asked, "Warren, what do you want with me?"

Warren had been waiting for her to initiate the conversation.

Now that she finally spoke, he started to talk, "Ms. Dustin, we are truly sorry about the incident with Donna Dustin. Now that Donna's affairs have been settled, we need to discuss the lawsuit."

Brittany's palms clenched. It seemed he had received the lawyer's letter.

"I don't want money; I just want a fair explanation.

First, severely punish the medical staff who neglected their duties, and second, apologize publicly."

This was Brittany's demand.

"Impossible."

Warren immediately rejected the idea. A public apology from the hospital? Wouldn't that be the same as admitting they were responsible for Donna Dustin's death?

Now that Donna's case was making waves, many people were paying attention. Once word got out, how would the hospital continue to operate?

"Ms. Dustin, five million dollars, is that enough?"

Warren had checked Brittany's background, knowing that she had severed ties with her family. All the assets under her name didn't exceed seven figures. He was willing to pay this sum, which he considered to be very generous.

Brittany was filled with disappointment. She picked up her bag and said, "Warren, there is no need for further communication before the court hearing. I just want a fair explanation; I don't want your money."

Having said that, Brittany got up and left.

"Ms. Dustin."
