The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 237

She was covered in blood, and everything around her was continually dimming.

Patients around her threw strange glances, but she didn't have the time to care. All her attention was on Donna. She entered the elevator, and no one dared to join her.

She was covered in blood; why didn't she seek a doctor?

Where was she going?

Isaac followed closely but was kept at bay.

The elevator arrived, but Brittany could barely hold on. Leaning against the wall, she staggered towards the ICU.

The late-night corridor was so quiet, it was heartbreaking.

Brittany walked step by step, slow and heavy.

The security guard outside saw her coming and wanted to help, but Brittany avoided him.

Inside the ICU, it seemed clean.

The once operating equipment was now silent.

Brittany seemed to realize something. Her legs gave way, and tears flooded her face like a bursting dam. She clutched her chest and opened her mouth wide, but couldn't make a sound.

Her lips trembled as her vision was blurred by tears.

Through the open door, she saw the medical staff covering a body with a white sheet.

Her body was convulsing, her heart felt empty, and her frail body curled up like a shrimp.

Urgent footsteps echoed.

Isaac saw this scene and felt like his heart was brutally split open.

He was too late.

He watched as the medical staff wheeled Donna out. They looked at Brittany indifferently, murmuring comforting words.

Brittany was shaking all over, crawling on her knees, propping herself up to hold the already cold Donna. As if she had found her voice, she choked out, "Granny, I'm back."

"Granny..."

"Granny, please don't leave me."

"Granny, I won't leave anymore; look at me…"

Her voice grew fainter, but she refused to let go.

Isaac came over, pried her hand open, and held her in his arms. He heard his voice, so low that it was almost unrecognizable.

"Bri, Granny is gone. Let her rest in peace."

Brittany buried her face in his chest, crying her heart out.

He thought it was good for Brittany to be sleeping now.

At least she didn't have to face those negative public opinions, let alone those hurtful comments.

"Should we postpone Donna's funeral again?"

Brittany hadn't woken up, and the funeral was already delayed for a day.

"Postpone it again."

After Nathan left, Isaac walked to the bedside and held Brittany's hand. Even in her sleep, she didn't look peaceful.

Her brows were furrowed, as if she were constantly troubled by nightmares.

He lowered his head and kissed the back of her hand. He was glad that he checked his phone back in H city.

But he also blamed himself for not noticing her situation earlier.

If he had noticed earlier, she might have been able to see Donna last time.

If he had noticed even earlier, Donna might still be here, even if unconscious but at least still alive.

He had lived for twenty-seven full years, and for the first time, he felt regret.

The scenes kept replaying in his mind. If he had been later, what would have happened to Brittany? He didn't have the heart to even think about it.
