"Divorce?" Brittany was taken aback, "I haven't even thought about divorce."
Their marriage was fine, why would they divorce?
Loraine was surprised Brittany hadn't considered it and was at a loss for words.
But thinking of past incidents, she didn't dare to act rashly. She didn't want Brittany to cling to Isaac once she knew his true identity.
"Alright, I thought you would change your mind." Loraine said.
If it were any normal person who had billions of dollars, they would have spent it all by now. But Brittany kept a low profile. She didn't like others interfering with her marriage, especially Loraine, "Ms. Field, I have things to do. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."
Brittany signaled for her to leave and Loraine didn't push it any further. She excused herself and left.
After leaving, Loraine got into her car. The driver looked over, "Ms. Field, we just got word, Mr. Salter declined the invitation."
For the fifth anniversary celebration, she had invited Isaac too. She didn't expect him to decline.
The smile on Loraine's face froze. After a moment, she took out her phone and dialed Derek's number. As soon as she spoke, there was a hint of a sob in her voice, "Derek, I'm feeling a bit down, can you keep me company?"
Derek would naturally not refuse, "What's the matter?"
"Would you come to the fifth anniversary celebration?" Loraine choked up, "Zac won't come, is he mad at me, or did someone say something to him?"
Hearing this, Derek immediately understood, "Don't worry, it's such an important day. I'll definitely bring Zac with me."
Loraine said a few more things and Derek felt Isaac was being too cold-hearted. Even if they didn't get married, they had grown up together, why did it have to come to this?
After calming down Loraine, Derek found Isaac, "You're not planning to go to the fifth anniversary celebration?"
Isaac was dealing with documents and didn't even look up, "I'll be with Bri that night."
Again with Brittany.
Derek rubbed his forehead, "Loraine really wants you to go."
"Well, that's even more reason for me not to." Isaac said.
Isaac had thought it through. He couldn't marry Loraine, and since that was impossible, he would minimize contact as much as possible. More importantly, he would rather spend time with Brittany at home than attend those boring dinners.
Derek was quite angry, "I heard Brittany was also invited, are you sure you're not going?"
"Loraine." Gloria greeted her with a warm smile. Loraine stepped forward and sweetly called out Gloria.
Not long ago, Gloria represented the A country jewelry design committee on an overseas exchange. She had just returned when she received a call from Loraine, so she invited her over.
"Loraine, long time no see, you've become even more beautiful." Gloria took Loraine's hand and walked into the Crawley family's garden, "How's your engagement with the Salter family going?"
She was completely unaware of the industry cocktail party held by the Salter family.
Loraine was a little shocked.
Gloria, having had similar experiences, guessed there might be problems and comforted her, "Men are like that, they're always a bit arrogant when they're young. Wait for him a bit more."
Although Loraine seemed to respect Gloria on the surface, she actually looked down on her. Gloria had once wanted to get married but ultimately did not. She even remained single for over twenty years for someone, never dating again.
For Loraine, using marriage to solidify her family's status and becoming the enviable Mrs. Salter was her biggest life goal.
"Gloria, I came here today to invite you to join me at my fifth anniversary celebration." Loraine said.
Gloria was aware of this, "I've already received the invitation."
