Brittany woke up from her slumber and Isaac was already gone.
She checked the time. It was already 11 AM. After resting for half an hour in bed, she got up, and had a quick breakfast, then freshened up and went to the studio.
When she got to the studio, Kari was still in a meeting.
The factory had sent over Loraine's jewelry. After carefully inspecting it, Brittany notified Loraine, "Ms. Field, your jewelry has arrived. Do you want it delivered now?"
She didn't really feel like seeing Loraine, let alone delivering it to her personally. But Loraine wasn't about to miss this opportunity, "I'll come over and pick it up."
"Alright." Brittany said.
Brittany had just hung up when Kari walked in, looking very tired, "Brittany, you're back."
Lately, there had been a surge in orders and Kari was knackered.
Brittany immediately got up and poured her a cup of coffee, "Tired, huh?"
"A bit." Kari admitted, sipping her coffee, "How's granny?"
"She's resting in the suburbs." Brittany said.
Seeing Kari so worn out, Brittany felt a pang of sympathy, "You go home and rest later. I'll be in Imperial City these few days, you don't have to come over."
Kari didn't hesitate. She really needed to rest or she'd be sick from exhaustion.
"Brittany, is Ms. Field coming?" Kari asked.
She had just finished a meeting and heard her secretary confirming Loraine’s itinerary.
"Yes, her jewelry is here and needs to be handed over." Brittany leaned back in her chair, "Later, tell everyone that they've worked hard this month, and everyone's salary will be doubled."
Kari exclaimed in surprise, "Thank you, Mr. Dustin."
Who ever heard of a worker not being tired! What they wanted was tangible rewards, and this so-called sense of achievement was nothing but empty promises.
Brittany laughed.
Kari had another cup of coffee and seemed to recover a bit, "Now all of Imperial City knows you've inherited a huge fortune. The other day, quite a few so-called financial whizzes wanted to see you."
Billions of dollars was a huge fortune to anyone.
Brittany shook her head helplessly, "Just turn them all down for me."
"I know." Kari said.
Kari managed to chat for half an hour more, but couldn't hold on any longer before Brittany sent her home to rest.
"That's Loraine."
"Dressed to the nines like that, is there an important dinner tonight?" Someone whispered. Even for a socialite like her, it was a bit much to go out in a high-end limited edition dress.
"Hold on, I think I've seen that necklace on Ms. Field before."
Driven by curiosity, someone searched on their computer. Upon seeing the picture, they gasped in surprise.
"What's up?"
"The necklace around her neck is a work by the jewelry designer Myrdal. It's said to be the only one in the world."
Designer Zora exclaimed, "Ms. Field is really generous. Buying such an expensive piece without a second thought."
"I heard that Ms. Field and Mr. Salter are close, and they might even get married."
"Mr. Salter? The one from Grandeur Capital?"
"Who else could it be? He's one of the most powerful men in Imperial City. But unfortunately, he rarely makes public appearances."
"Don't talk nonsense, I heard Mr. Salter isn't interested in Ms. Field at all."
