The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 177

The expert team brought in by the Chester family significantly improved Donna Dustin's condition.

Her health was gradually getting better, and Brittany was on high alert.

She privately chatted with the attending physician, Dr. Laurs, about Donna's condition. The doc's response was not optimistic, "Ms. Dustin, considering the current situation, if we can't find a suitable kidney source within three months, Donna might not make it."

They were just doing their best to keep Donna alive. Her condition has improved due to the large amount of medication they used, but these were just to ease the symptoms, not to cure the root cause.

Brittany shivered, "Thank you, and I hope you guys can do your best to keep my grandma alive. Money is not an issue."

She could slow down her house-buying plans and use all her money, just hoping to keep Donna alive a bit longer.

Dr. Laurs sighed, "Don't worry, I'll do my best."

Their duty was to treat and save lives.

Despite their high fees, they would do their utmost to keep Donna alive, thanks to Isaac's private sponsorship.

After talking with Dr. Laurs, Brittany returned to the ward.

Donna was now in a private ward with someone on duty 24/7.

When Brittany walked into the ward, Donna said, "Come here."

Donna had lost a lot of weight. All of the weight she had worked hard to gain was gone. Only her eyes still glowed.

Brittany couldn't look into her eyes without feeling pain.

She walked over and held Donna's hand, "Grandma, are you feeling uncomfortable now?"

"Not anymore."

Donna was in great pain but didn't want Brittany to worry.

"I heard from the doctor that I'm doing well lately. I want to be discharged."

She knew very well that finding a suitable kidney source was not easy, and she also knew that she might not be able to fully recover.

She didn't want to stay in the hospital in her last moments.

She wanted to go back to the suburbs, her vegetable garden needed tending, and the fruit was ready to be picked.

She had many small animals at home, all waiting for her to come back.

Brittany felt a lump in her throat, "Grandma, let's wait a bit longer."

Wait until her body was in better shape.

Then she could go home.

She looked at Donna's hand; it was already skin and bones, and the veins were clearly visible. Because she had been getting injections, her hand was full of needle marks, which made Brittany feel even more pain.

Brittany was leaning on the couch, looking out the window, and the sky was full of dark clouds. She had been feeling uneasy these past few days as if something big was about to happen.

Just as she was about to leave, the door to the ward was pushed open.

It was Lionel.

"What brings you here?"

"Bri, can you step outside for a moment?"

Lionel's face didn't look too good; Brittany got a knot in her stomach. She knew something had happened.

Donna looked at Lionel, "Lionel, did something happen?"

Lionel's face eased a bit, and he answered, "No, I just need to discuss some work stuff with Bri, don't worry."

How could Donna not see through his lie? She waved her hand, indicating for Brittany to go out.

Brittany left the ward, carefully closed the door, and turned to Lionel, "What happened?"

"Did you hit someone?"

"Yes, I disagreed with Robert a few days ago." Brittany nodded, "Did Robert do something again?"
