The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 167

Brittany wasn't dumb. She can clearly sense the malicious intent behind that statement.

A flicker of movement crossed Isaac's brow. He, too, could feel Derek's apparent hostility towards her.

"Yeah."

Brittany didn't try to hide it; she looked at Derek and said, "It's my college friend, William. He knew that my grandma was sick, came to visit, and even offered to do a bone marrow match."

Her relationship with William was crystal clear, nothing inappropriate to keep under wraps, so she had no reason to feel guilty.

Derek was momentarily stunned; he hadn't expected Brittany to be so forthright.

She actually admitted to having contact with another guy!

Brittany turned her gaze to Isaac, her eyes shining brightly. "I never intended to hide it from you. It’s just that Mr. Derek blurted it out sooner than I expected."

Isaac gently held her hand, his tone warm, "I know."

Derek watched them, feeling that his words had not made Brittany uncomfortable but instead seemed to have irked Isaac slightly.

"Sorry, I saw Ms. Dustin stepping aside to take a phone call, and I misunderstood."

Derek took a sip from his coffee cup, his face apologetic.

Brittany didn't want to accept his apology but couldn't make it too obvious with Isaac present.

She picked up her coffee cup and smiled at Derek, indicating forgiveness.

Derek said very little throughout dinner, spending most of his time observing Brittany.

She ate slowly, occasionally whispering to Isaac. She was not as rude as the information suggested, but nothing was particularly noteworthy.

After dinner, Isaac went to pay the bill.

Brittany and Derek waited by the door. When Isaac returned from paying, he said, "Let's go."

"You guys go ahead; I’ve got a date."

Derek wasn't lying; he actually had arranged to meet Wesley.

Isaac left with Brittany, and after they were gone, Derek hailed a cab and headed straight to the bar.

The bar was buzzing. Derek made his way smoothly to the private booth. He pushed open the door.

With a woman in his arms, Wesley greeted Derek, "You're here!"

They finally found him in a small village, with a little girl constantly trailing behind him, calling him "brother".

The girl was beautiful but mentally challenged.

Apparently, she had fallen and injured her head, and she wouldn’t let anyone but Isaac get close to her.

Isaac initially wanted to take the girl with him, but the night before they were set to leave, the girl drowned, and her body was never found.

As a result, Isaac was sick for a long time, and even now, he refused to mention the girl.

Derek was aware of this. Over the years, he never brought up the girl.

"I heard William took over VelvetGlow Jewellery?"

"He had just successfully handled a major case recently and did quite well."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the door to the private booth was pushed open. Wesley’s eyes lit up, "He's here."

William must have just finished work, still wearing his gold-rimmed glasses, looking gentle and refined. Derek stood up and hugged him, "Hey there."

"Hey."
