The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 129

Isaac didn't even spare Loraine a glance, which really ticked her off and even made her eyes go red.

Derek felt even worse. He sighed, patting her back gently, "Cheer up."

Isaac was always like that, a real piece of work.

Before the auction started, Nathan handed Isaac a catalog.

"Mr. Salter, this is the catalog for the auction. Please have a look."

Isaac flipped through it. There were a lot of items for auction. Besides the set of jewelry he'd been coveting, there was a brooch, a creation of a master jeweler, which were really exquisite.

His fingers paused on that page.

"Mr. Salter, do you want to win this for Ms. Dustin?"

Nathan was a shrewd one. These days, Mr. Salter and Ms. Dustin were getting on like a house on fire. He had a hunch that Ms. Dustin was about to become the real lady of the manor!

He had to win the favor of the future mistress!

Isaac gave Nathan an appreciative look, "You're getting smarter."

Nathan felt a chill down his spine despite the compliment.

The auction went smoothly, and Isaac got his hands on the jewelry set he wanted.

The brooch was a hit, even Loraine wanted it. After a fierce bidding war, everyone else backed down, but Loraine was still in the game.

Isaac wanted to win the brooch for Brittany, so Loraine was determined to throw a wrench in his plans!

They raised the price again and again which led to hushed whispers among the crowd.

Isaac looked at Loraine, his tone slightly softer: "Loraine, you can bid on anything else. Let me have this one."

Loraine bit her lip, "Alright."

He was willing to go this far to please Brittany?

Isaac successfully won the brooch. He told Nathan to put everything Loraine won on his tab.

"Let's go."

Isaac left with Nathan. Loraine sat there, her breath coming out in short gasps.

After a long while, she regained her composure and continued with the auction alongside Derek.

The footsteps got closer.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

Brittany held her breath. Subconsciously, she picked up the vase from the bedside table. If anyone dared to break in, she'd hurl the vase without a second thought.

Isaac knocked a few times but got no response.

He glanced at his wristwatch. It was already past three in the morning. Brittany was probably asleep.

He could've waited till dawn to return, but he insisted on taking a late-night flight. He didn't know why he was so eager to see Brittany that he couldn't even wait a few hours.

He reached out to turn the doorknob, but it was locked.

Brittany's grip on the vase tightened.

She instinctively moved forward but slipped. The vase in her hand fell and shattered.

Hearing the noise, Isaac, who was outside, thought there was someone else in the room.

He stepped back and kicked the door open. Brittany instinctively held onto the shards of the vase; her face was full of fear.
