The Billionaire and His PA novel Chapter 83

“Cassie. Wake up.” He ordered after he had slipped on his pants.

Cassie whined incomprehensively in her sleep and turned over.

“I’m being serious. You need to get up.”

“No.” She whined, as she rolled over. “Leave me alone. I’m tired.”

“Cassie!” He ordered as he grabbed her by the shoulders and made her to sit up. “Get the fuck up! Isabel’s hurt.”

Most of the sleep cleared from Cassie’s eyes. “What?”

“Eliza was the one that called me. She said that someone just got hurt and mentioned Isabel. Eliza’s a doctor so I’m sure she did the best she could.”

“It can’t be my Isabel. There are many people named Isabel in the world.”

“She said that it was an Isabel Gomez.” Felix said. “And I know. There are many people named Isabel Gomez in the world but we have to head downstairs. Your Isabel or not, we have to make sure that whoever was shot is fine. It’s the right thing to do. Maybe try calling Isabel to check if she’s alright.”

Cassie rolled off the bed, slipped on her dress and pulled up the zip in one fluid motion. She opened her clutch and turned it upside down over the bed. “Isabel’s not picking up.” She declared after trying her number twice. She abandoned her heels for the complementary shower shoes that the hotel provided and stamped out of the room, leaving Felix behind.

It took Felix a little while longer to leave the room as he had tried and failed to button up his shirt. With his shirt still unbuttoned, he grabbed his jacket and walked out of the room, realizing only as the door shit behind him that he had left the keycard inside. It didn’t take him much effort to meet up to Cassie as although she had been walking briskly, his longer strides made it easier for him to catch up to her.

“I’ll drive.” Felix offered.

“And I’ll come along seeing as I’m already involved.” Eliza declared.

They waited at the front of the hotel, stomping their feet and rubbing their arms to ward off the cold as the hotel’s valet brought Felix’s car. Even though Felix’s car had a back seat this time, it had no door leading to the back seat so Eliza had to crawl in from the first row of seat, rubbing off blood on the chair as she did so. Then from the backseat, she leaned forward to input the address of the hospital into the car’s navigation system. “I don’t know if there was an exit wound but the bullet definitely hit something that it shouldn’t have because there was a fuck ton of blood.” She pointed to the section behind the police tape. Even from the distance they were, the trio could clearly see the blood on the ground that mixed with the snow and dirt. A detective bent down to examine something shiny on the ground before bagging it.

“She’s going to be alright.” Cassie declared firmly as she pulled her eyes away from the scene.

The unsure look that Eliza gave Felix via the rare view mirror said that she believed otherwise.
