The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 424

Was this really the person Catherine had chosen?

When the call ended, Catherine slipped her phone back into her bag. Lorinda arrived right on time, and together they walked inside.

Harrell had already set everything up. Catherine headed straight to the ultrasound room. Lorinda followed her in.

Catherine lay down, lifting her shirt to reveal a softly rounded belly. She looked a little nervous.

“Catherine, you need to work on your nutrition,” Harrell said, moving the probe gently over her stomach. “The baby isn’t underdeveloped, but it’s still a bit small overall.”

Lorinda stood next to him, squinting at the jumble of blurry shapes on the screen.

“Harrell, what am I looking at?” she asked, frowning.

Harrell pointed at the monitor, explaining, “This is the baby’s hand, that’s a leg, and here’s the head.”

Lorinda gave a little laugh, sounding impressed. “That’s wild. You can really tell all that? So… can you see if it’s a boy or a girl?”

“Lorinda, you know I’m not allowed to say,” Harrell replied, his tone serious as he kept working.

“Oh, come on, we’re friends, aren’t we?” Lorinda grinned at him. “I won’t tell anyone.”

Harrell ignored her teasing, moving on. “Catherine, have you decided between a natural delivery and a C-section?”

Catherine hesitated. “Which is better for the baby?”

Harrell set aside the probe and handed her a tissue. “From a medical perspective, there’s really no difference. Some people say babies who aren’t squeezed during birth aren’t as smart, but that’s just an old wives’ tale.”

“I haven’t really decided,” Catherine admitted. “If everything goes smoothly, I’d rather have a natural birth.” She thought about Lorinda’s C-section scar and remembered how her friend still complained about it sometimes.
