The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 355

Catherine paused, her breakfast halfway to her lips.

“Okay,” she answered quietly, then ended the call.

A heavy silence settled in the room until Letty suddenly piped up. “Wait, why is Lance’s watch at your place?”

Catherine handed her the house key. “Can you go grab it? And don’t be long.”

Letty took the key, eyes flicking over Catherine with barely disguised curiosity.

Catherine felt the need to explain. “Lance had a high fever yesterday. He didn’t bring anyone with him to Eldervale, so I took care of him.”

Letty grinned. “Makes sense. You’re pregnant, so obviously you were just helping out. Nothing else happened, right?”

Catherine just stared at her. That explanation somehow made things sound even sketchier.

Her brows knitted together, but Letty had already started toward the door. She stopped and turned back. “Do I need to worry about Lance’s breakfast?”

“No, I’ll handle it.”

Catherine quickly called a fancy hotel and had breakfast sent over for Lance.

Half an hour later, Lance stepped out of the bathroom, his hair still a little damp. As he buttoned up his shirt, his eyes landed on the breakfast waiting for him on the desk—exactly the kind of food he liked. There was a sticky note on the insulated box, her handwriting clear and neat.

Take your medicine ten minutes after eating.

The pills were packed separately, right beside the food.

He sat down and opened the breakfast, but before he could even take a bite, his phone started ringing. He glanced at the screen, ignored the call, and started eating. The phone kept ringing over and over, but he didn’t react, just finished his meal at his own pace. Only after his last bite did he wipe his mouth, and then, finally, answered.

“Lance, what’s going on between you and Catherine?” Adelina’s voice was sharp, but there was an edge of vulnerability underneath.
