The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 345

“No,” Catherine said, not even hesitating. “You’re the best person to look after him.”

“I really can’t. It’s not a good time,” Harrell replied.

Was it really harder for him, a grown man, than for Catherine, who was not only his subordinate but also pregnant? Catherine was about to argue when the man lying in the hospital bed suddenly pushed off the blanket and got up.

In just a few quick moves, he pulled on his clothes, slipped into his shoes, and brushed right past Harrell, who was blocking the door. He walked straight out without looking back.

Both Catherine and Harrell just stared after him, watching as he left without saying a word.

“Where’s he going?” Catherine asked, honestly confused.

“He left because of you,” Harrell said. “You made it sound like he was just a burden and you didn’t want to deal with him.”

“That’s not what I meant at all. You’re his friend and a doctor. I figured you’d be the one to take care of him, not me.” Catherine was just being realistic, especially since she was pregnant.

“I already told you, I don’t have the time,” Harrell insisted.

Catherine wanted to say she didn’t have time either. Work was already piling up, and she’d just seen a bunch of messages from Letty on her phone.

“He’ll be fine. He’s an adult, he’s not going to die,” Harrell said, giving her a reassuring look. “Let’s just get back to work.”

With that, Harrell left first.

Catherine stood there for a second, then walked out of the hospital room. Lance had already disappeared.

Frowning, she left the hospital, skipped going home to change, and headed straight to the office.

She hadn’t even had a chance to reply to Letty’s messages before Letty called her.

“Catherine, Josh got into a fight with the PR manager! The manager slapped him, so Josh called the cops, and now the police have taken both of them away!”

Catherine quickly turned her car around and drove straight to the police station.

“Keep an eye on things at the office,” she told Letty. “I’m heading to the station now.”
