The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 32

Belinda had said it herself.

Catherine shook her head. “I’ve been busy. Haven’t really followed the news.”

“Is it that you haven’t been watching, or that you’re afraid to?” Lorinda called her out right away.

Lance and Adelina’s engagement had been all over the headlines lately. Unless Catherine was purposefully avoiding it, there was no way she hadn’t seen it.

Catherine didn’t respond.

Lorinda’s voice took on a teasing note. “Well, according to today’s news, Adelina and Lance had a fight. Looks like they’re not even speaking to each other.”

“Really?” Catherine remembered that deleted message about the canceled leave.

Lance had never made a mistake at work, especially not with something as important as a board meeting. Was this connected?

Seeing Catherine’s mood drop and how she had zero interest in talking about Lance, Lorinda decided to end the call. She just reminded Catherine to get some rest.

After hanging up, Catherine opened her browser. She didn’t even have to type in his name. Suggestions about Lance popped up right away. Sure enough, there it was—news about another fight.

It was the twenty-eighth of the last lunar month, the first day of SilverLeaf Industries’ official holiday break.

Catherine was almost over her cold. She was just getting ready to visit Fiona in the hospital when Sophia called.

“Catherine, you’re out of the hospital,” Sophia said, sounding a little awkward.

Catherine was busy getting her things together and didn’t notice. “Yeah, it was nothing serious. No point staying there. I’m good now. Just about to go visit Grandma.”

Sophia hesitated, then said, “Alright, see you soon. Grandma’s got something she wants to talk to you about, anyway.”

Catherine ended the call and drove to the hospital.
