The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 209

“No.”

Catherine’s answer came out sharp and clear, but her heart was racing.

Lance just looked at her, searching her face.

“Do you two know each other?”

Harrell looked like he was in his early thirties. His skin was pale, his eyes were fox-like and bright, and his hair was parted in the middle, fluffy and perfectly styled. Next to Lance, his slim figure made him look even more delicate.

His voice was gentle and pleasant, the kind that made people feel comfortable around him.

Catherine managed a stiff smile, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

“Lance, I’m here to book Lorinda’s six-month postpartum checkup. Her regular doctor quit, so they said to make the appointment with Harrell.”

Lorinda had used the same OB/GYN as Catherine. Now, both of their files were getting handed over to Harrell.

Harrell glanced at Lance, then at Catherine.

“She works for me,” Lance said, keeping it simple.

“Oh, I see,” Harrell replied.

Lance gave a tiny nod, his eyes shifting away from Catherine. “I’ll get going.”

It wasn’t clear if he was talking to Harrell or Catherine.

Catherine quickly stepped aside. “See you, Lance.”

She kept her head down, her gaze landing on his straight, long legs. As Lance walked away, she finally looked up at Harrell.

“Harrell, do you know Lance?”

Harrell nodded, then shook his head. “Not really. We just have some mutual friends.”

Catherine paused, then handed Lorinda’s file over.
