The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 173

“That’s why you and Adelina make such a good couple. She’s gorgeous too.” Catherine stopped and looked at him.

Lance’s eyes fixed on her, dark and intense. “So, you and that junior staffer… Are you really thinking about taking things further?”

There was something tight and annoyed in his voice.

Catherine frowned, not getting it. “I can’t get into The Main Family. Golden Horizon Enterprises and SilverLeaf Industries are basically sworn enemies. You’re already bothered by me talking to Gavin, now you want to control who else I see?”

“As your ex-husband, I’m just trying to give you some advice.”

Lance stood, hands in his pockets, and came to stand beside her. “There’s no rush. Spend more time with him before you make any decisions.”

The word “ex-husband” cracked right through the careful distance Catherine always tried to keep.

She glanced at him, puzzled. “You and Adelina grew up together. You’ve known each other forever. If anyone should be getting married, it’s you two. Honestly, as your ex-wife, my advice is to just get it over with. The sooner, the better.”

She had no idea if Lance and Adelina would be happy, but the sooner they got married, the sooner she could finally move on.

She turned around and walked away.

The door to the private room swung shut slowly behind her. Lance reached out to stop it, feeling a sudden wave of irritation.

Was she really that eager for him to marry someone else? Was his concern completely wasted on her?

He scowled and shoved the door open again, then strode out.

The team-building trip was supposed to last two days. Adolf had planned to leave with everyone when it was over, but after what happened last night, he found an excuse and left first thing in the morning.

With no more client dinners or activities, Catherine didn’t even bother leaving her room. She managed work online, and when she had a break, she just rested.

Around noon, Aaron messaged her.
