The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 62

Victoria had a dream.

She was running through an endless darkness, pursued by countless people shouting for her capture.

She ran for what felt like an eternity.

Finally, exhausted, she stopped and looked back. She couldn't see her pursuers, but their vicious curses echoed around her.

'You bitch! It's because of your father that our families were destroyed! All of you deserve to die! You deserve to die!'

'Give me back my son! Why wasn't it you who died? Why!'

'Murderers! Everyone in the Sanger family is a murderer! You'll all go to hell!'

She covered her ears, whispering apologies over and over, but the words swirled around her like ghosts, threatening to swallow her whole.

"Victoria..."

A hand suddenly appeared before her.

Victoria looked up to see Garnett standing there, smiling at her with his usual warmth and affection. Behind him was a door, from which a soft light glowed.

"It's okay, Victoria. Don't be afraid. Give Daddy your hand."

"Dad..."

Victoria stared, frozen. Just as she reached out, Garnett's face morphed into someone else's.

Elias's features were sharp and defined, his dark eyes like bottomless pits of ice, sinister and terrifying.

Before she could react, a cold, large hand clamped around her neck.

"Victoria, you're looking for death."

His voice was chilling.

Her pupils constricted. She could feel his grip tightening, slowly but surely. She clawed at his hand, but it was like iron.

Her lungs burned, and every bit of air was crushed out of her.

Just as she was about to suffocate, her eyes bloodshot, she screamed with all her remaining strength—

"Elias, no!"

Victoria jolted awake, panic slamming through her so hard her chest ached.

It took a moment for her to calm down and for her vision to clear.

"Is this... a hospital?"

She tried to sit up, but a searing pain shot through her body, as if every bone had been shattered and put back together. She sucked in a breath as a vicious headache pounded behind her eyes.

Leaning back against the headboard, she looked down at the IV needle in the back of her hand. The moments before she fainted came flooding back.

She had stabbed Harry and had run into someone while escaping...

It was Tobias who had saved her.
