The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 50

Victoria's gaze turned icy. After a moment, she sat back down, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Genevieve, you really haven't changed at all."

Just then, the waiter brought their drinks to the table.

Genevieve wrapped her hands around the warm milk glass, a dismissive smile on her face. "So what if I haven't? Victoria, are you jealous?"

"Jealous of you? Genevieve, what is there about you to be jealous of? Your status as the Vale family's adopted daughter? Or your role as the other woman?"

"Victoria!" Genevieve's composure shattered. "Do you really think you're still the high-and-mighty Miss Sanger? What do you have to be so proud of now?"

Victoria calmly met her gaze but said nothing.

Just as she thought. The mask had come off quickly.

Genevieve's face was a mask of fury, her fingers tightening around the glass.

She had always been in Victoria's shadow. No matter how hard she tried to fit in, those self-proclaimed elites had always looked down on her, mocked her for being a commoner trying to climb the social ladder.

But Victoria? No matter what she did, she was always surrounded by admirers, always protected and praised.

Every time Genevieve saw Victoria basking in the spotlight, she was consumed with resentment and a fierce, burning jealousy. All that attention should have been hers.

But thankfully, fate was fair.

Now, the Sanger family was on its last legs, and her title as Miss Sanger was meaningless. The so-called design genius had been reduced to a designer at some minor institute, completely irrelevant.

The only thing she had left was her status as Mrs. Shawn.

At that thought, the jealousy in Genevieve's eyes surged. If it weren't for Victoria, she would have been the one to marry Elias two years ago.

But it didn't matter.

"You may have stolen him, Victoria, but I can take him right back."

"There's ten million dollars on this card." Genevieve forced herself to calm down and took a bank card from her purse, placing it on the table. "I heard The Sanger Group lost quite a few partnerships recently and took a major hit. This should help you stay afloat for a while."

Victoria's eyes narrowed.

The last time, she had convinced Elias to stop targeting The Sanger Group, but the damage had already been done. Two years ago, when Garnett was imprisoned, The Sanger Group had been attacked from all sides, its foundation shaken. It had taken Grady two years to stabilize the company, but the recent losses had nearly shattered it again.

Grady hadn't said anything, but she knew the company's cash flow was on the brink of collapse. They couldn't afford another blow.

Ten million dollars would indeed give them some breathing room.

But there's no such thing as a free lunch.
