The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 330

Inside the treatment room, a doctor was carefully disinfecting and re-bandaging Elias's right hand, all the while cursing his bad luck for agreeing to cover a colleague's shift last night.

He didn't know what he'd done to deserve this. First, Garnett, a man the higher-ups had specifically ordered them to take good care of, somehow tumbled down the steps of the garden pavilion and had to be rushed into emergency surgery.

He'd barely been pulled back from the brink when Victoria, who had recently been all over the news, burst into a room and tried to stab Genevieve—a scene that nearly ended in a homicide.

Then, their hospital's biggest backer had to go and grab a knife blade with his bare hand, nearly losing its use.

Just when he thought the drama was finally over, Genevieve, a real piece of work herself, tried to evade police custody by slamming her head into the nurses' station, ending up back in the ER…

The more the doctor thought about it, the more his stomach turned. This wasn't a shift; it was a death sentence. If any one of these incidents got out, he'd be blamed for dereliction of duty. His career would be over, not a crack of daylight left.

Finally, the wound was treated. The on-call doctor respectfully advised, "Mr. Shawn, you absolutely must not exert any force with your right hand. If the wound keeps tearing open, you could suffer permanent damage."

Elias glanced at the gauze on his right hand. He wiggled his fingers slightly, as if he could still feel the lingering warmth from when Victoria had held it.

He grunted in acknowledgment.

The doctor, hearing Elias's response, breathed a small sigh of relief. He repeated a few more care instructions to Hawk before leaving with his medical kit.

The door to the room closed.

Elias cleared his thoughts and looked at Hawk.

Hawk understood the cue and began his report. "Mr. Shawn, Miss Vale is out of danger for now. She's been moved from the recovery room back to her original ward."

"What are the police saying?"

"They said that since Miss Vale is still in a coma, she can't be interrogated. And since they don't have much else on the case right now, Abbey's testimony alone isn't enough to definitively prove Miss Vale was involved in what happened to Grady. So, for now, they are just following procedure and processing her for medical parole. The investigation will continue once she wakes up."

After a moment's thought, Hawk asked hesitantly, "Mr. Shawn, the legal department called. They said that news about Miss Vale being the mastermind behind Grady's crash is exploding online, and it's affecting the group's stock price. Should they coordinate with the PR department to suppress it?"
