Victoria's injury wasn't serious.
In fact, if left untreated for a little longer, the scratch probably would have already started to close on its own.
But remembering Elias’s terrifying aura, the doctor examined her meticulously twice over. On the second pass, he did find something.
Victoria’s right wrist was red and swollen, but fortunately, no bones were broken.
He had a nurse bring a cold pack and, after treating it, finally turned to Elias. “Mr. Shawn, you can rest assured, Miss Sanger’s injuries are minor. The swelling on her wrist was likely caused by an impact. A few days of icing it should be enough.”
Elias’s expression was inscrutable. He simply grunted in acknowledgment.
“So… Mr. Shawn, shall I take a look at your hand now?” the doctor asked respectfully, treading carefully.
Elias nodded and held out his hand, palm up. It was a bloody, shocking sight.
The doctor examined the wound and couldn't help but suck in a breath. It was clear the wound was caused by someone forcefully squeezing a blade. Any deeper, and not only would the bone be exposed, but the entire hand might have been crippled.
After his examination, the doctor immediately sent a nurse for a suture kit and anesthetic.
“Mr. Shawn, this cut is too deep. It will require stitches. I’ll give you some local anesthetic.”
Moments later, the nurse returned with the supplies. The doctor quickly prepared a dose. “The anesthetic should last for about six hours. Once it wears off, it will likely be quite painful. If you can't bear it, I can administer a painkiller.”
“No anesthetic. Just stitch it,” Elias said, his brow furrowed.
The doctor was stunned for a moment before replying, “But Mr. Shawn, it will be extremely painful without it.”
The palm is full of nerve endings. Even a sharp paper cut could hurt for days. This was a long, deep gash.
Stitching it raw—the mere thought made the doctor wince.
From beginning to end, Elias didn’t make a sound. He didn’t even flinch.
His heart pounding, the doctor finished the last stitch, his forehead covered in sweat. He looked up at the man sitting across from him, whose expression remained impassive, his face only slightly paler than before. The doctor was filled with genuine awe.
A nurse took over, wrapping Elias’s hand in gauze.
The doctor removed his bloody gloves. “Mr. Shawn, while the wound is healing, it’s best to stick to a simple diet. Try to avoid using your right hand, and be careful not to get it wet.”
“I understand,” Elias said deeply. “Hawk, show the doctor out.”
“Yes, sir.”
The doctor wiped the cold sweat from his brow and was about to say he could see himself out, but Hawk put an arm around his shoulder and firmly escorted him out, closing the door behind them.
Soon, only Victoria, Elias, and Genevieve remained in the room.
