That morning, after having breakfast with Garnett, Victoria felt a wave of drowsiness wash over her.

While most women experienced morning sickness and loss of appetite in their first trimester, Victoria's only symptom was sleepiness. Her appetite was normal, and she felt fine otherwise.

The team of specialists in charge of Garnett's treatment had developed a new plan, which required him to spend a couple of hours in the treatment room every morning.

Garnett had noticed Victoria yawning nonstop since she arrived. When it was time for his treatment, he simply asked Mr. Flint to accompany him, telling Victoria to rest in the room.

Victoria wanted to go with them, but she couldn't argue with Garnett's insistence that she stay. Plus, she was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open, so she agreed.

Not long after Garnett and Mr. Flint left, Victoria fell asleep on the sofa.

An hour later, Garnett and Mr. Flint returned to the room and saw Victoria lying on the sofa with a tablet resting in her arms. She had clearly fallen asleep while reviewing documents.

"Oh my, Miss Victoria fell asleep on the sofa. We can't have her catching a cold," Mr. Flint said, immediately moving to wake her.

"Don't wake her," Garnett quickly stopped him, whispering, "Go get a blanket. The poor girl has been running back and forth these past few days. She must be exhausted."

Mr. Flint nodded and went to get a blanket from a nurse.

Garnett gently draped it over her. Seeing her pale face, his heart ached with pity. He reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

In her sleep, Victoria seemed to sense the movement. Her brow furrowed slightly, and her eyelids fluttered.

Garnett pulled his hand back and stood up. "Let's go," he said to Mr. Flint. "We'll take a walk so we don't wake her."

With that, he stepped out of the room, gently closing the door behind him.
