Soon, Genevieve couldn't breathe.
Her pupils shrank in terror.
The man stared at the reddened corners of her eyes, and as if remembering something, his throat tightened. He threatened her, “I can let go, but don't you make a sound. Otherwise, I’ll kill you right now.”
“Mmph… mmm…”
Even though the man had intentionally lowered his voice, Genevieve recognized it immediately. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she struggled to form his name.
“He-Henry!”
Realizing he’d been recognized, Henry dropped the act. He let her go, pulling off his hat and mask with a roguish grin. He pinched Genevieve’s jaw, his thumb stroking her chin.
Genevieve was always meticulous about her appearance, especially her face. Her skin was so well-cared for that touching it was like caressing a piece of soft, supple tofu.
“Not so dumb after all, are you? You figured it out,” he said, his eyes dropping to her lips as he leaned in to kiss her.
Genevieve was still shaken from the attack. Seeing him try to get physical with her now, she grew furious. She turned her head away, shoved him off, and got up to smooth out her rumpled clothes.
“Henry, are you insane?!” she hissed, glancing nervously toward the door to make sure no one was outside before breathing a slight sigh of relief.
Henry loosened his collar, rolled over, and lay back on the bed, lacing his hands behind his head. “What? You’re mad already?”
Genevieve’s face was livid. “I told you not to come looking for me for a while! What is wrong with you? Do you even want to—”
Before she could finish, Henry suddenly grabbed her arm and pinned her beneath him.
“Hen—”
“What’s wrong with me? Genevieve, are you playing dumb or are you really this stupid?” Henry’s gaze roamed nakedly over her chest. He narrowed his eyes, a familiar heat rising in his groin. If the timing weren’t so bad, he would have taken her right then and there.
