In the hospital room.
Genevieve slowly opened her eyes. She looked down at the bandage wrapped around her wrist. Specks of blood were already seeping through.
Her eyes turned cold and she viciously pressed the thumb of her other hand onto the wound.
She had waited in that holding cell for an entire day, holding onto a sliver of hope, watching the door expectantly.
But while people from The Shawn Group’s legal department came and went, Elias never appeared.
It was then that Genevieve finally realized he wasn't coming for her.
With the release of the recording and the live broadcast of the awards ceremony, Genevieve’s name had become synonymous with scandal overnight. Her career was completely destroyed, her reputation in tatters.
And it was all because of Victoria.
At the thought, Genevieve couldn't stay rational. Her eyes reddened with regret. She shouldn't have just gone after Grady; she should have made sure Victoria died with him.
If she had, she would still be the celebrated Designer Vale, and Elias wouldn't be running so hot and cold with her.
That’s right, she still had Elias.
She couldn’t lose him…
A sharp pain shot through her wrist.
Genevieve’s eyes misted over with the pain, the corners turning red, but the pressure from her thumb didn’t lessen in the slightest.
The freshly stitched wound split open, and fresh blood poured out, quickly soaking the white gauze bandage.
She heard a noise from outside the door.
Genevieve immediately let go, threw back the covers, and stumbled towards the door.
When the door opened, Elias saw Genevieve standing there, her face pale. Blood, having soaked through the bandage, dripped from her fingertips to the floor.
“Elias…”
