The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 242

Sunny followed the sound and found Victoria's phone. "Victoria, you have a call," she called out.

Victoria came out of the bathroom, tossing the paper towel she used to dry her hands into the trash. "It's probably a spam call," she said calmly. "Just hang up."

"But… it looks like it's from the hospital." With that, Sunny walked over and showed the phone screen to Victoria.

The hospital…

Victoria paused. She glanced down at the caller ID, and her heart suddenly sank. A strong sense of unease washed over her.

She answered the call, speaking first. "This is Victoria."

Sunny stood to the side, petting Dawn.

Whoever was on the other end of the line said something, and Victoria's expression grew progressively graver. She then hung up and turned to walk toward the entryway.

"Hey!"

By the time Sunny realized what was happening, it was too late to stop her. With a slam, Victoria was out the door.

Sunny chased after her, watching with an anxious expression as the elevator descended. She pulled out her phone, found the number in her contacts, and after a moment's hesitation, dialed it.

The call was answered almost immediately.

Before the other person could speak, Sunny blurted out, "Mr. Shawn, Victoria just took a call and rushed out of the house."

Elias was in the middle of the annual shareholders' meeting. Hearing this, his eyes darkened. He cut the call, abruptly stood up, interrupting the meeting, and strode out of the room.

The shareholders watched, stunned, as Elias's figure disappeared. It took them a moment to process what had happened, and they exchanged shocked glances, completely bewildered.

Seeing that Hawk remained in the conference room, all eyes turned to him, as if demanding an explanation.

One of the senior shareholders, his face dark with displeasure, demanded, "Hawk, what was the meaning of that? Mr. Shawn just walking out without a word?"

"Exactly! This is the shareholders' meeting! For Mr. Shawn to leave without so much as a word, isn't that a bit disrespectful to us shareholders?"

"We came all this way just to be left hanging like this?"

"Hawk, you must give us an explanation!"

It's always the same. Once one person starts, the others quickly join in.

Hawk was suddenly surrounded by a mob of shareholders.

The Shawn family held an absolute majority of over seventy percent of The Shawn Group's shares. Normally, these shareholders wouldn't dare to breathe a word in his presence. But now that Elias was gone, the pressure was off, and they were starting to throw their weight around, demanding answers from him.
