Chapter 251 Trouble Finds Sebastian

“What do you feel like eating?” Shane asked, sliding the menu toward her.

Seraphin pushed it back. “You pick. I’m treating, so it’s up to you.”

Seeing their uncertainty, the waiter offered a friendly recommendation. “Why not sample our signature dishes? They’re our top–selling items on the menu.”

Shane waved dismissively. “Sounds good. Bring us everything you’ve got.”

The waiter paused, then explained, “We have 18 signature dishes, and you’re welcome to select four to begin. If you’d like more, simply let me know.”

“Let’s not waste food. Two mains and a starter are plenty. You can decide which ones,” Seraphina interjected.

Shane leaned back in his chair and replied, “I’ve heard great things about this place. Let’s see if the food’s as good as they say. The vibe’s nice, though.”

“It is,” Seraphina agreed, glancing around.

While they made small talk, Shane’s mind was elsewhere. What if she asks me where I’ve been lately? Should I just be honest? But it isn’t exactly something a girl should hear. If I lie and she finds out later, I’ll look even worse.

Though he appeared composed externally, he was deeply consumed by overanalyzing each scenario. Yet, Seraphina never brought it up. Instead of feeling relieved, he was oddly annoyed.

As they ate, Seraphina noticed something was off. Shane, who had been animated moments ago, appeared distant, and his face darkened.

“Is something wrong?” she asked, watching him closely.

Before Shane could answer, her phone buzzed. She peeped at the screen and immediately answered–it was Justin, the guy Shane had tasked to keep tabs on Sebastian.

Justin’s voice was frantic. “Seraphina, bad news! Sebastian’s been taken by some guys from the casino. I tried to stop them, but they were too much for me. I’m worried about what they’ll do.”

Seraphina was already on her feet. “Where are you right now?”

“I’m currently in the western suburbs, but they’ve already gone. I haven’t been able to contact Shane, so I figured you might know what to do,” Justin replied.

Overhearing the conversation, Shane stood up as well.

Chapter 251 Trouble

“What’s going on?” he asked the moment the call ended.

“Sebastian’s been kidnapped by some casino thugs. Can you help me figure out who they are?” Seraphina explained urgently.

“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,” Shane replied without hesitation, and they rushed toward the exit.

As they were about to exit, a waiter hurried after them. “Pardon me, you haven’t settled the bill.”

Shane swiftly pulled a stack of cash from his pocket, peeled off several bills, and passed them over. “Keep the change,” he stated curtly without stopping.

Nearby, a middle–aged couple exchanged looks before subtly following them out.

Once outside, Seraphina grabbed her phone. “Jarmal, check who’s been in the slums today. I need answers now.”

Her mind raced as she recalled the places Sebastian’s dad frequented. Shane started the car, and they sped off.

Yet before they could get far, someone stumbled into the car’s side with a loud thud. A man collapsed to the ground, clutching his leg and moaning.

They barely had time to process what happened before a woman stormed toward the car, pounding furiously on the window. “Get out here! You bang my husband!”

Shane and Seraphina stepped out, exchanging a quick glance.

The man on the ground clutched his leg dramatically, wailing, “My leg! It’s broken! I can’t move!”

It didn’t take much to see through the act, but they didn’t have time to deal with it.

Shane sighed, cutting straight to the point. “How much do you want?”
