Hearing all this, a playful smile still lingered on Seraphina's lips, "Mr. Reynolds, you really don’t beat around the bush, do you?"
As a journalist, she had dealt with tons of investigative cases over the years, and that had honed her risk assessment skills to a T. She had a sharp sense for danger of all sorts and was usually ready to roll with the punches or save her own hide before things went south.
However, ever since she returned to Sunburst City, especially when dealing with Leandro, her spidey senses seemed to go on the fritz.
Like now. She had not seen this coming when she decided to drop by.
Leandro's gaze was fixed on Seraphina.
The warm orange light from the lamp cast a gentle hue on her black dress, giving it a toasty appearance. Beneath it, her long, elegant legs were positioned gracefully together. Her stunning smile held steady, but there was a brief pause in her gaze.
Sensing Leandro's intense stare, Seraphina swiftly regained her composure and nonchalantly perched on the couch.
Leandro's eyes, as unfathomable as ever, carried a different nuance now. His gaze had always been frosty in the past, revealing no emotion. But at this moment, under the soft lamp light, he observed her like a predatory lion, blatantly assessing his prey.
Seraphina was fully aware that Leandro was a man who stayed true to his word.
She glanced at the door seemingly casually. It was half-open, just as it was when she came in. It hadn't been closed.
For a moment, Seraphina had a mental image of herself bolting out of the door, but immediately dismissed the idea. The door was open because Leandro couldn’t be bothered to close it. Whether it was open or closed wouldn’t affect his plans or mood for the night.
In a flash, dozens of possible responses went through Seraphina’s mind, but none of them stuck. Finally, she took a deep breath, looked at Leandro and asked, "Why?"
While Leandro did have a physical reaction to her, he had made it clear he had no interest in sleeping with her. So, what was up with his current behavior?
"Make the best of what you have." Leandro said.
Hearing this, Seraphina almost laughed, "What?"
Leandro casually flicked the ash off his cigarette, his voice low and slow, "Since you don't give a damn about life and death, why waste this body?"
Hearing this, Seraphina finally burst out laughing, "So, Mr. Reynolds, you fancy my body, huh? Should I express my feelings too?"
"Does it matter?" Leandro asked.
Seraphina shrugged, "I know you don’t give a hoot about my consent, Mr. Reynolds, but I would still like to say, I’m not down for it. Period."
Leandro stubbed out his cigarette, slowly leaned in, his lips almost touching Seraphina's.
"Show me how much you don't want to."
Unexpectedly, Seraphina laughed. She hooked her arm around Leandro's neck and leaned into him, clearly not resisting.
Leandro settled back onto the couch, and she sat on his lap.
"I'm not a fool. I know you're gonna make a move tonight, Mr. Reynolds. Resisting would just be asking for trouble." Seraphina began unbuckling his belt, "So, why not loosen up and enjoy the ride?"
She unbuckled Leandro's belt and unzipped his pants.
Just as her hand was about to reach in, Leandro suddenly held her waist tightly. The next moment, he carried her upstairs.
…
The second floor was Leandro's bedroom.
"Mr. Reynolds, you're quite skilled at this," she remarked, a playful tone lacing her words, "Ready for another round?"
Without missing a beat, Leandro swiftly turned her over and pressed himself onto her from behind.
The long night was filled with their intimate moments. Leandro took "make the best of what you have" to the extreme. From start to finish, he didn't say a word, yet silently left his mark all over Seraphina’s body.
…
At 5 a.m., the morning light was just starting to peek through.
Seraphina woke up from her sleep, alone in the bed. The room was very quiet, Leandro wasn't in the bathroom either. Ignoring the pain, Seraphina sat up, wrapped the quilt around herself and walked out of the room barefoot.
The mansion was eerily quiet, except for the light from Leandro’s study. Seraphina walked over and found the door to the study was open, she could hear Leandro’s voice from inside.
She took a quick peek inside. Leandro had already changed into a shirt and dress pants and was sitting behind his desk, chatting away at his computer screen. He looked so full of energy, you'd never guess he'd just spent the entire night getting busy between the sheets.
Comparing herself to him, Seraphina couldn't help but lament the unfairness of nature's design between men and women. She turned back into Leandro's bedroom, found her skirt on the floor at the foot of the bed, and then strode into the bathroom.
By the time Leandro wrapped up his meeting and returned to his bedroom, Seraphina was already gone. All she left behind were crumpled balls of paper strewn across the floor, a rumpled bed, and a lone earring on the pillow.
By then, Seraphina was already on her way home.
Keen, the driver, had been waiting downstairs the whole night and had only been woken up not long ago, so he was still a bit groggy. As they passed a pharmacy, Seraphina suddenly said, "Pull over."
Keen hit the brakes immediately and turned to look at her. Seraphina flashed him a smile, "Your boss was a bit too much last night, I can barely walk. Could you do me a favor and grab me some emergency contraception?"
