Jane froze. "Mom, what...what are you talking about?"
Her mother looked at her lovingly. "Our Jane really has grown up. Look at these beautiful dark braids and plump breasts. You have grown taller, too. Your face is a bit too small and thin, but that's just about right.
Jane, my darling, you are all grown up now and it's time for you to get married. Mummy has asked someone to find you a good match and your husband-t o-be comes from a wealthy family who owns millions of dollars worth of properties. They are quite the celebrity here in this town so you will surely live happily ever after if you marry him."
"Mom, I don't want to get married," she said, shaking her head frantically. "I am studying on my own for the test, one year from now and I should be able to go into university. I don't need you to pay for my tuition, Mom. I can work part-time jobs while studying. Mom, please don't marry me off, I don't want to marry. My eldest sisters and brothers, none of them are married yet, how is it my turn?"
"If it's not your turn, would you rather marry your younger sister off? Your sister is just fifteen this year, can you really bring yourself to do that?" Her mother's expression darkened in an instant.
"Wh-what does this have to do with my sister?" "They wanted your sister! They even said they are
willing to give us two million dollars in exchange! Two million dollars could resolve so many of our pressing issues! Your four older siblings' tuition costs up to a hundred thousand a year! Your grandparents need to b e taken care of, your father needs his cigarettes, and your younger siblings need to go to school! Shouldn't you contribute to this family?" She glared at Jane in contempt.
"Why me??" Jane broke down in tears and shouted," Was I just a kid you picked up on the street? You've already run a paternity test, I am your child! But why does it have to be me? If you don't want me, I can just walk out of this family and cut all ties!"
At that very moment, Jane had lost all hope. She even thought it would be best for her to starve herself to death and get it over with. In her next life, she would never be born into the Sheen Family again. However, she did not starve to death, but was married into her in -laws', the Madden Family. Her father-in-law was Ian Madden and her mother-in-law was Cara Pierce. Indeed, her in-laws were wealthy in the town they lived in, with millions of dollars of savings and owned a few cranes. Their two sons were twins as well.
Unfortunately, when the twins were eight years old, the couple brought them to a wildlife safari. Because they went against the rules and got out of the vehicle, they ended up being chased by gigantic predatory beasts, which led to a traumatic experience for both of their sons. The older twin became mentally retarded while the younger twin was disabled. Rumors had it that Ian's younger son would still wet himself in his bed even though he was already eighteen years old. His older son was even worse, with an intelligence lower than an eight-year-old, remaining as intelligent as a three-year-old at best. Jane was sent to the Madden Family to marry the oldest, Bryan Madden.
The Maddens gave her parents a dowry of two millions, which was just a crude way of saying that they were buying Jane off.
Upon arriving at the Madden's and seeing her husband Bryan who was two years older than her, Jane did not hesitate to run towards the wall in an attempt to commit suicide. She was stopped and pinned down by her in-laws and tossed into an underground basement for four whole years. Jane caved after years of imprisonment and finally agreed t o marry the fool, Bryan. However, on the same day that she had agreed, Bryan was so overwhelmed to the point that he died from the excitement. Instantly, Jane was left with her father and mother-in-law, her unborn child and her brother-in-law Ben.
