Sabrina's sharp cry had only been half completed before it was muffled by Sebastian’s embrace. The man had an arm wrapped tightly around her, his chest covering her eyes so that she couldn't see anything.
It gave her a sense of security that she had never felt before.
Following that, she felt his large hands cover her ears.
Four to five muffled bangs sounded, reminding her of fireworks.
Her grip on the man unconsciously tightened.
She felt the hands on her ears move away as she heard a voice commanding Kingston, "Drive."
The engine roared as the car started up.
Sabrina slowly emerged from the man's embrace. Her face was a burning red, and she did not dare to face Sebastian at all. Stealing a glance at the rear view mirror, she noticed the body of a man collapsed on the ground where their car had been earlier.
She knew that the muffled, firework-like sounds from earlier were actually gunshots.
Unwittingly, she turned to look at the man. 1
His expression remained calm and composed, as if
nothing had happened. 1
Sabrina said nothing throughout the rest of the journey. Her mind incessantly replayed the moment where he had dealt with the stranger, how he had held her in his arms, covering her eyes and ears. He had not wanted her to witness that dreadful situation.
He was worried she would be afraid.
Sabrina felt a strange warmth in her heart.
Sabrina was speechless.
In the distance, at a corner behind an elevator meant for cargo and trash, Lincoln, Selene, and Jade of the Lynn family were all staring unblinkingly at the pair.
Selene’s eyes were red from staring, and her tears flowed as she clenched her teeth. "Dad! I want to kill that despicable Sabrina, I want to kill her right now! If I don't kill her, some day, our whole family will be killed by Sebastian. Oh..."
Selene's cries felt hopeless.
She had already tried over and over again, telling Sebastian that she wanted to stay with him, that she wanted a physical relationship with him, but Sebastian had always unhappily swatted her away.
Now, she no longer dared to ask for anything from him, afraid that she would anger him.
She had simply conceded that Sebastian was naturally cold and detached. Never would she have expected for him to bring Sabrina to the most bustling place in the city, personally picking out clothes for her. Selene was going crazy with envy!
