How could a father not notice his daughter blushing. What was she thinking? Her father spluttered, "You! You two are together?"
Ruth flashed crimson and muttered, "Dad...he is going to marry me."
Her father was silent, his expression darkened for a split second. But Ruth was too focused on being embarrassed that she failed to notice it.
"Dad, I'll just give Ryan a call and let him know," she said, still reed.
Her father nodded. "Sure."
Ruth pulled her phone out and called Ryan. Ryan had just woken up to a red heart-shaped note on his nightstand that read 'Hubby, I went down to get you breakfast. If you wake up to this note, call me and let me know if you want anything specific'.
Ryan chuckled at the heart-warming note. "That little woman sure knows how to take care of me."
It was almost as soon as he finished reading the note that his phone rang, and he picked it up. "Hello?"
"Ryan," said Ruth. She was too shy to call him 'hubby' i n front of her father, but Ryan wasn't having it.
"Call me hubby!"
"Ryan, I need to tell you something-"
"Call me hubby! Refuse and I'll show you when you come back!"
Her father stroked her hair. "You are your dad and mom's daughter, we couldn't be more proud that you found us a son-in-law with such a high status. Let's go home to your mother, she should feel so much better hearing this. Come, let's go."
"Yeah, okay, dad." she chirped and went with her father cheerfully.
When they were close to reaching the door to their house, the nearby shop that fixes phones caught her attention for some reason.
"Dad, my stomach hurts. Just give me a minute, I need to use the bathroom."
Her father glared at her but did not say anything against it. She ran towards the public bathroom and made a sharp turn into the shop when he wasn't looking. She bought a small phone and a new sim card, before exchanging it with her current phone and placed it under silent mode. It wasn't until after she was done when she returned home with her father. It was perhaps the times that she had been tricked by her parents that made her wary, but this time, her defensiveness was not at all excessive. At the exact moment she stepped through the door, a sack came from above her and covered her head. 1 "Ugh...! What are you doing!" she cried.
