Hearing her daughter’s scream, Sabrina started and turned to look back at Aino, "Where, baby?”
"Outside the window." Aino pointed outside the window.
Sabrina looked in the direction of Aino’s finger." Where? I don't see anything."
"Mommy, your eyesight is poor. You need to look past the road, behind that tree. See, there are two little black eyes there." Aino's gaze was still fixed far in the distance. She wasn't afraid of the pair of eyes at all, because Aino could feel the warmth of its gaze. Upon closer look, Sabrina did indeed see the pair of eyes.
Sabrina was so shocked, she froze for a split second. All she saw was a pair of dark eyes behind a tree, the eyes were looking at them through a gap in the branches.
Sabrina stared back at the eyes for a while, then immediately got out of the car and led Aino running toward the road. "Aino, quick, follow me."
However, by the time they reached the opposite end of the road, she didn't see anything. The pair of eyes had long since disappeared.
Sabrina stood in the same spot, disappointed.
"Mommy..." Aino called out to her weakly. "You still
have me."
Instantly, tears flowed down Sabrina's cheeks. She kneeled down and hugged her daughter. "Yeah, Mommy still has Aino."
Like a little adult, the little girl planted a kiss on her mother's forehead. "Mommy, don't be sad."
Her kiss was very comforting to Sabrina. For her daughter, she had to live on happily.
Back home, Sebastian wasn’t home from work yet. Seeing as Aunt Lewis had the dishes ready, Sabrina decided to give Sebastian a call.
On the other end, Sebastian was in the middle of a private meeting. Since the issues in Sabrina's hometown had been settled, now it was time to fully focus on taking on Star Island. This meeting was to plan for the take over.
"Who do you think I am! I am your wife, your lifelong leader!" Sabrina said cheekily.
"Yeah! You are indeed my lifelong leader." Sebastian agreed, a slight smile on his face. 1
None of the subordinates present exhibited any hint o f surprise. By now, they were used to the sweet interactions between their boss and his wife.
On the other end, Sabrina really believed Sebastian was alone in his office. "Dear, work hard but don't exhaust yourself."
"Thank you for your consideration, my leader."
"Don't...don't misunderstand dear. I asked you not to exhaust yourself not because I was worried about you, I did it for myself. If you're too tired, you wouldn't have time to serve me when you're home, am I right, dear?" Sabrina was growing more and more open, cheekier and cheekier.
Truth be told, she did it because she was hiding a sense of loneliness in her heart. The pair of eyes, they had looked into each other's eyes. But when she ran over, she didn’t see anything. Sabrina couldn't dispel the disappointment and loneliness in her chest, and the anxiety of not being able to locate her mother.
