She herself would live through anything. Allowing her baby to be born was her highest priority.
The director actually did leave immediately after she had finished speaking.
Sabrina sat quietly at her seat.
"Sabrina!" A veteran of the design department, Amanda Cloud, yelled out fiercely.
"Miss Cloud, if you have any tasks for me, please let m e know and I'll get it done." 1
Sabrina spoke matter-of-factly, giving Amanda a blank look.
This shocked Amanda. "You...”
Sabrina awaited Amanda's orders without saying anything else.
A cold and cruel smile grew across Amanda's face. "G o! Get the information we’ve compiled from the supplier. Bring every sample to the work site and let the engineers have a look at them. Since the director i s out, we won't be able to use the company cars. Carry them yourself, and take public transportation over!" 2
Sabrina was speechless.
Construction samples, bricks, buckets of silicon clay, and even diagrams. They were all bundled in a mess.
Sabrina stared at them, knowing that she would need a large sack to carry them all.
But to move all of that through public transport?
Amanda looked on at Sabrina, a sly smile on her face.
Sabrina nodded, "Alright, I will head right over.”
With that, she headed to the storehouse and got a large sack before putting in the items one by one. She pulled, tugged, and carried it, slowly dragging everything out of the design department.
As she was leaving, the entire design department began to mock her.
"What’s so special about her? She thinks she's all that just because the director likes her!"
"Since the director is not around, let's get rid of her!"
In her panic, she was not careful and her hand slipped, sending herself falling backwards.
As she fell, she felt a sudden sense of helplessness. Even if the bus was only two steps up, when she hit the ground, the child in her would still be at risk.
Was this fate?
Sabrina's tears started to fall.
However, instead of hitting the ground, she found herself in the crook of an arm.
Sabrina looked up. Nigel’s phony smile greeted her, seven parts evil and three parts playful. 1
"Ni, Nigel...” Sabrina's face reddened as she struggled t o get up.
Nigel smirked, "Sabrina, I can't believe you’re still holding a grudge." 1
"What are you saying?"
