"Mommy, what's wrong?” Aino looked at Sabrina worriedly, like a cute little adult.
Sabrina turned and said anxiously, "Aino, be a good girl, Mommy needs to step out for a while.” Sabrina opened the door and stepped out of the car. Aino was still in the car, so she did not dare to go far. She could only watch as the shabbily dressed homeless woman ran away as fast as she could.
She disappeared completely within a minute.
Sabrina returned to the car in despair. Behind her, Aino, who sat in the child seat, looked at her mother i n concern.
Sabrina forced a smile onto her face in reply.
Nevertheless, the call from Yvonne was still ongoing.
"Hello, hello, Sabrina, what’s wrong Sabrina, Sabrina..." On the other end, Yvonne shouted like a cat on hot bricks. She was worried about Sabrina.
Sabrina raised her phone and replied listlessly," Yvonne, are you off work?" 1
She had already left the office, picked up her daughter and was back home.
On the other end, Yvonne asked, "Sabrina, what's wrong? What happened?"
Sabrina shook her head, "Nothing."
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?! Quick, tell m e! Sabrina, am I your friend or not?!" Yvonne had a hot temper.
Sabrina nodded, "Yeah."
"What happened?! Quick, tell me!" Yvonne guessed anxiously, "Is it bad news from your trip to your hometown?"
Sabrina shook her head, "No, everything went smoothly. I brought my father's ashes back and buried him yesterday. And, my mother...she's not dead."
Sabrina sincerely hoped so.
Hence, she said it.
On her end, Yvonne comforted her happily, "This is good news. Why aren't you happy?"
Sabrina said, "I miss my mother...”
They were stunned when they saw Sebastian speak so tenderly. 1
They stared with their mouths wide open in surprise a s Sebastian conversed with Sabrina on the phone.
On this end, Sabrina immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, Sebastian, were you home already? Were you waiting for me and Aino to start dinner? I remember you told me we couldn't keep Aino hungry. We’re coming up right now.”
"I'm not home," he answered.
"Huh?" Sabrina was surprised.
Sebastian was rarely absent from their shared home i n the past four, five months of their marriage.
She was not used to him being absent for dinner.
"Where...where are you?" Sabrina's tone was slightly reproachful.
"When we organized the banquet at the old residence not too long ago, a few of my brothers couldn’t attend because they were abroad. We gathered for dinner tonight at the clubhouse we went to last time. We have a yearlong rented room. Come join us, bring Aino along too."
