Seeing that the old Master Shaw had closed his eyes, Sabrina sighed softly. Before she could speak, Marcus who was standing next to Yvonne shouted, "Sabrina!"
She turned around to look at him and reassured him." I know."
Marcus knew that Sabrina was an understanding young woman, who would never seek out to harm someone aggressively. If she could let the Lynn Family go, it was likely that she wouldn't be too harsh t o his grandfather. If he had to be completely honest, Marcus hated his grandfather for all the unjust acts he participated in against Sabrina. But at the same time, his heart ached at the sight of his grandfather being placed on the spot for all eyes to see. He could only look at Sabrina, silently pleading for her mercy.
Sabrina turned back to look at the old Master Shaw and said, "Old Master Shaw, I just want to tell you that, we... I've never offended you in any way or tried to take anything away from your granddaughter. I might not have a father, but I was once my mother's baby girl too. I have every right to live my life. I've proven to you that no matter how hard you try to beat me down, the better I become, haven't I?"
The old man was rendered speechless. Humiliation wasn’t even close to describing what he felt, but an old man was more than someone who had lived through
decades. The old Master Shaw had travelled the way and seen it all. There was no occasion too grand, nor embarrassment he could not bear. Therefore, he was able to maintain his composure much better in comparison to the Lynn Family.
"Throughout history, the might makes right. At this point, there is nothing left to say. This old man will bear full responsibility for everything. You didn't forgive your own grandfather-in-law, I would imagine that you have no reason to forgive me even if I asked for your forgiveness, so I won't. But I'll have you know that I have never owed anyone anything in my entire life. Didn't Sebastian want to take over that island? I'll have all my subordinates summoned at your command with no condition!" he said.
Most would consider the fact that the old Master Shaw remained dignified even in situations like this t o be rather respectable.
For a moment, Sabrina did not know how to respond.
Sebastian stepped in and said, "Thank you, grandpa Shaw, but I...don't need it right now."
The elderly sighed in resignation and nodded. After bidding farewell with old Master Henry, he proceeded t o apologize to the guests as he slowly moved towards the entrance with Marcus next to him. All in all, the old man was still his honorable self for admitting his own mistakes and owning up to the consequences regardless of the humiliation. Many amongst the guests were impressed by his assertiveness.
"I suppose that's the spirit of the old man who had participated in war in the North-South region. He doesn't fret easily. He can accept the honor and can also withstand the shame. I can't help but respect the man for being able to remain so calm in a situation like this!" someone in the crowd said.
"Hey, don't you think that the old Master Shaw and Mrs. Ford are quite alike in that aspect?"
"Yeah! Mrs. Ford, too, doesn't fret easily. She can remain composed through the honor and the shame," another guest agreed thoughtfully. Though the discussion was soon interrupted by a desperate shriek.
"Cousin Marcus...!"
