Linda was speechless.
She couldn't believe her own ears. In fact, she even started to regret having bad-mouthed Sabrina to Daniel during their entire journey to the hotel. Since Linda had used words like 'gold-digger', 'fraud" and " prisoner" instead of Sabrina's actual name, it hadn't occurred to him that she was actually talking about his good friend.
Furthermore, Daniel had even defended Sabrina so openly.
Linda felt as if she had just been slapped on the face.
None of the attendees, including her, could have expected such a turn of events.
Yet, Sabrina's expression did not change, even after seeing Daniel.
She didn't suddenly become happy just because someone had come to her aid.
Not at all.
After all, she was aware that she had been sentenced t o death, so why bother involving other people?
Furthermore, this young man was an architect with a promising future. It would be a pity if he lost it all here...
Sabrina repeated her words calmly, "Daniel, please go
back, this is none of your business."
Despite hearing this, Daniel didn’t release Sabrina from his embrace. With an aching heart, he asked," Sabrina, tell me what happened. You're being targeted by so many people here, and I even heard Linda cursing at you repeatedly on the way here. You're clearly stuck in a very dangerous situation, so how can I possibly leave you behind? Tell me, what happened?"
Sabrina simply shook her head at him without saying anything.
"They’re calling you a liar? An ex-convict? They're even claiming that you forged your university degree and resume? I've also heard from Linda that you blackmailed her for 100,000 dollars and almost made her lose her job. Are these allegations true?" Daniel asked Sabrina, with a foreign accent.
With a nod, Sabrina answered, "Yeah."
"Why?" Daniel asked, looking puzzled. "Who's threatening you?
"Is there something you can’t say?
Moreover, one of them was even a foreigner.
This time, the topic of the article was 'Will these two men fight? Wait and see'.
However, this woman, Sabrina, was truly amazing. Even when things had escalated to this point, she didn't look nervous at all. Her mental fortitude was admirable. That was one of the nicer ways to describe i t.
People who were more straightforward might call her an unfeeling dead mouse, and a shameless woman.
Though the idiom had used the words dead mouse, Sabrina was still a living, breathing, human being in the end.
As such, in this situation, there was only one person left in the entire city that would be able to make her cower in fear.
That is Sebastian, the King of South City! i
If Sebastian came here to put an end to her antics personally, there's no way that she wouldn't feel afraid. 1 That would be impossible!
