After dinner, Sabrina decided to spend the night reviewing the blueprint for the construction, while Zayn tugged Aino in and read her story books. The two were overjoyed in each other's company and Sabrina would take a peep at them from time to time, feeling like everything was right in the world.
The next day after breakfast, Sabrina went to have a discussion with Zayn.
"I'm going to go back to Aino's kindergarten to proceed with the procedures of having her transferred, and look for a different kindergarten elsewhere. Maybe it's best to keep our distance with people like Mr. Sullivan, they are far too powerful for u s to risk being in conflict with them, we might as well just avoid them altogether."
"Sure," Zayn nodded in agreement.
Having reached a consensus, Sabrina was just about t o head out when she saw two men standing outside the fences and were about to knock on the door. The two men were dressed in official attire with briefcases in their hands.
"Hi, can I help you?" Sabrina asked as she opened the door.
"Are we speaking to Ms. Scott?" One of the men asked. Sabrina nodded in response and he proceeded, "we
are from the New World Co., We are here today to discuss compensation for Mr. Eli Sullivan's injuries. With the expenses of his hospitalization, medication and loss of income due to the injury included, Mr. Sullivan had requested a total amount of five million i n return from you, Ms. Scott."
"What?!" Sabrina gasped.
"Five million, I said," the lawyer repeated expressionlessly.
"You might as well just ask for my life!" Sabrina roared.
"Ms. Scott," the lawyer remained composed and explained in a neutral business-like tone, "it is not our decision to make as lawyers as to how much our client asks for. If you find this amount unreasonable, you could hire a lawyer to represent you as well, or you may choose to negotiate directly with Mr. Sullivan."
"Fine, negotiation is it then. Five million! This is extortion!" Sabrina shouted in frustration. After the lawyers had left, she reached for her cellphone to give Neil a call, i
Leo's mother, Mrs. Sullivan too, was staring down at Sabrina through the layers of thick skin on her face while demanding, "kneel! But don't be mistaken, even after you have kneeled and apologized, you are still going to have to pay us five million and if you don't have the money, you are to leave the country. We are going to have that house of yours confiscated!" 2
"..." Sabrina was still remaining silent through the insults thrown at her.
"You won't believe how powerful dad's friend is," Leo, who was merely a six year-old, looked triumphantly at Sabrina and boasted, "he is going to come here to see my dad later, and he is going to smash your brains in i f you don't kneel right now!"
Just as Leo finished, a voice was heard from outside 0 f the ward.
"Who dares to bully Leo? Come tell uncle all about it."
Sabrina immediately became stiff upon hearing the voice and muttered, "Seb...Sebastian Ford?"
