Being called out by Alex had Ivy falling on her knees i n fear. She started bowing her head over and over again. "Please spare me, Master Alex!" She never would have imagined that the pregnant woman would have the capability to turn the tables.
Alex did not bother with Ivy's pleading and shouted at the driver ahead, "Garrett, where are those people that you buried from last time?"
"Master Alex, they are buried at the field in the West--"
"Alex!" Suddenly, Jane interrupted him.
"What is it, Jane?" he asked gently.
"Alex, back in those two nights and one day that I spent at Huron's, it's true that when everyone was bullying me, this young lady gave me a piece of bread s o that I didn't starve. But when she asked for my help, I didn't save her. It's okay. I don't hold grudges against her. There's no need to kill for my sake." Jane paused for a moment before adding, "That woman who got mad at me back in the restaurant as well. I don't want t o care about her. It's fine. I just want to see my mom a s soon as possible, okay?"
"Okay, whatever you say," Alex agreed and turned to look at the people trembling in fear outside the car before saying lazily, "You should all be thankful to my wife. It's her who is kind enough to spare you."
He then turned and said to Garrett, "Garrett, start the car."
"Yes!"
Inside the car, Garrett started the engine. Black smoke oozed from the pipe under the car as it took off.
"Mm." She moved a bit closer to him before slowly and steadily falling deep asleep.
Garrett, who was driving from the front seat, did not feel all that happy seeing this and could not help but whisper, "Master, Mrs. Poole is too weak. Why don't w e get to the closest airport and take a flight back to Kidon City. That way she won't have to suffer."
Alex sighed. "We are going to circle around to Bay County first."
"Huh?" Garrett glanced over at Alex.
Alex did not say another word and simply held onto Jane with one arm. His emotions could not be read underneath the sunglasses he wore, but Garrett could distinctly tell the sorrow that loomed over his master. He wanted to ask but did not dare to. He still treasured his own life, and so Garrett did not ask anything. Wherever his master told him to go, a temporary driver like him could only obey. From White Ocean City to Bay County, the two small cities did not have flights that connected them, and it took about eight hours of driving for them to approach the borders of Bay County.
