After all, women who were pregnant were different.
After they had enough food and drinks, they got on a cab once again and officially departed for Noah's hometown.
The moment when they got in the car once again, Jane's heart was a lot more at ease.
She warmly nestled in Noah’s arm, and spoke with an emotional tone like many things have changed with time. "Noah, actually... Actually, Alex had been quite nice to me. When I was staying at his house as a maid, he never treated me badly. The treatment he gave me was the best among all the maids.’’
Noah lowered his chin onto her head. "You are a good woman."
Jane still said, "It was me. It was my fault from the beginning. He didn't do anything much with me, but I pestered him to be with me. After that, he got me beautiful clothes and took me out with him, then I had forgotten that I was actually just a maid, after all was said and done. When he was willing to hold me and spoil me, my status rose higher.
"However, he did not keep doing that forever.
"One day, he was not willing to hold me and spoil me anymore, and just like a dream, my status came falling from a high altitude. I was just lucky to not
have been shattered into pieces from that fall.
"Therefore, Noah, I will not have such delusional dreams anymore.
"It is important for a person to be self-aware. Also, one has to be independent and self-reliant. It's not the right outlook on life to rely on anybody.
"When we've returned to your hometown, I also cannot just be idle. I want to find a job, and we'll build our future home together, alright?”
She looked gently at Noah.
Noah also said gently, "You're pregnant, so I'm afraid it might be too exhausting for you."
Jane shook her head. "It's not exhausting. I will feel proud instead. I have a friend named Sabrina, the friend that lent me the ten thousand dollars. The experiences and encounters in the past were no better than mine, but she had always been self-reliant.
"It wasn't until today that I finally and completely understood where that kind of charm on her could come from.
"She doesn't rely on anybody, and she would pull through by herself, even if she became homeless. She had always been indifferent toward favors or humiliation, and has never been either humble or arrogant. This is because she doesn't owe anybody anything."
Hearing Jane saying this, Noah could not help but say,
on.
Jane leaned into Noah's arms once again. She finally fell asleep and there were no more dreams this time.
Over on the other end, in that county that Jane had once stopped by, Alex was truly calling out for Jane over and over again, "Jane, Jane, where are you? Don't hide from me anymore. Just come home with me..."
Alex had not slept for two days and two nights.
He had two bloodshot eyes from staying up all night, and he fell asleep while sitting in the car.
He had a dream. In his dream, he saw Jane backing away from him while saying to him in fear, "Mr. Poole, just spare my life. I will not find you again in the future. I was wrong. I'm begging you, Mr. Poole.”
Alex said, with overwhelming guilt, "Jane, what are you talking about? Why are you calling me Mr. Poole? I am your husband. Your husband! Follow me home. We'll return to Kidon City immediately. I want to give you a grand wedding that commands the attention of the world. I stopped loving Lily a long time ago. The person I love is you, Jane."
"Master! Master! Master Alex! What... What are you saying?" Garrett, who was standing outside the car, forcefully shook Alex to wake him up and asked in a very offensive tone.
