Of course he would choose the wife. Any man with an ounce of conscience would know this. So, was he wrong in choosing Lily? 1
He never said he would choose Jane! Right from the first day, he just saved her because he pitied her, pitied her for almost being beaten to death, and that was why he had saved her. He never loved her. The one he loved and missed with all his heart was always Lily. The little swan that he watched grew up.
But why was he suffering so much? Why was he in so much pain! He downed another glass of wine. Suddenly, he retched and vomited.
"Sir, Sir!" The manager held onto Alex's arm. Alex had already lost consciousness.
The manager hurried Alex to the hospital. The doctors put him on a drip, and because there was no one else t o care for him, the manager had no choice but to stay beside him through the night.
The next morning, Alex’s phone rang. It was a call from Lily.
The manager answered. "Who is this?”
"Who the hell are you! Every friend of Alex's knows m e, Lily Parker! If you ask me who I am again, I’ll tear your arm off! All of you took that dirty mistress to be his wife? I am! I am Alex Poole’s wife!"
On the other end of the phone, Lily had been suppressing her rage for the whole night! Her fury was about to explode like lava out of an active volcano.
The manager of the clubhouse pitied himself for being so unlucky. The clubhouse was fairly small and business was poor, why would they get such a drunk alcoholic! When his family finally called, it was like she had swallowed gunpowder for breakfast.
Her eyes were still bruised, but her nostrils had recovered. Her entire scalp was in pain, but luckily, it was not visible after she tucked her hair up. After putting a thick layer of makeup on her face, she left the house. 1
When she reached the hospital, Alex was still sleeping. The doctor told her Alex was fine now. It’s just that he did not sleep much for two nights, so he might have fallen asleep out of exhaustion.
The doctor told Lily that in fact, she could take him home to rest now. He was fine.
She nodded, sunglasses perched on her nose.
The doctor and the clubhouse manager who sent Alex to the hospital also left. Lily and Alex were the only ones left in the ward. She looked at him, eyes wide.
